Dr. Sandra Jowers-Barber, assistant professor of history at the University of the District of Columbia interviews Dr. Umar Abdullah Johnson author of "Psycho-Academic Holocaust: The Special Education and ADHD Wars Against Black Boys", which probes the psychological destruction of young African American male youth.
Dr, Johnson is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who practices privately throughout Pennsylvania and lectures throughout the country. As a school psychologist Dr. Johnson evaluates children ages 3-21 in an effort to determine if they have educational disabilities and a need for special education services. He is considered a national expert on learning disabilities and their effect on Black children, as well an expert on helping schools and parents modify challenging behaviors that can ultimately lead to disruptive behavior disorder diagnoses in Black boys
Dr. Johnson has made it his life's mission to halt the flood of black children - especially boys - from being forced into special education programs in public schools due to erroneous psychological diagnoses.

I can relate to him because when I needed money to open up my weight loss center, I got no help or support from the black cumminty, family or the bank. It took me 5 years working 7 days a week 15 to 18 hours daily to save $200,000. I finally open my clinic 2015.never give up on your dream and never depend on others.

Thank you for stating this, our people really don't know what it is to truly be independent, sacrifices must be made, they don't realize that grant money you have to answer to that, follow protocol,, and be subservient to those who issue the grant. We are really fooling ourselves of we think the government will help us reverse what they have put in place.

As an ex sub teacher, who’s main focus was retracting our truth to the new generations of our millennium! Our black youth are often misrepresented in education, and imploded in our penal system! It appears subtle but teaching our back youth from a white laced European culture is not teaching but misguiding! The real reason that black public schools lack everything minus true educators to even attempt teaching any child, especially our children, is defunding! Thereby, I commend Dr. Umar Johnson on his aspirations as a builder! Thank you for your deep care for the black youth and educating us in Pro Pan Africanism! Peace from a teacher’s daughter!

Ms. Harper, when I graduated from college living in a very gentrified area, I moved to the alleged dangerous place of the state to give back to my community. I tutor and counseled with many of our youth until I got disappointed that I was not given time between that and my career which have no relation. I then studied the natural way of living and educated our adults on that. I just don't know what more I can do or how I can hit our community at a larger scale without being judged for my determination to make a change. I don't know if I am cut out for this nor is this my calling. But I can say that I mattered. I've donated to more children trying to go to college or find their identity, than any pastor in my local church yet I am still attacked because I never asked for money in return. Any suggestions?

This concession on the lack of educational contributors are very real, even without any numbers [stats]. Reason being that as I am a Black man, the "Doc" speaks overwhelming truth. I have personally witnessed this troughtout my life of 48 years, the incessiveness of educators less likely to engage empathetically with Black students (esp., males). And throughout my years studying as a scholar, interning and shadowing behind educational professors (i.e, Associate Professors; Clinicians; and Counselors) with doctoral degrees and alike, it is so apparent the lack of concern that many display for the plythe and future of Black males in the U.S. The topper for me though is the wealthier few Blacks are obligated to join forces in order to reach back (with the means and resources) to provide for reestablishing our Black communities. Just like "Doc" said, "...no action, no results."

Preach brother. Well articulated. I’m crying because I was in special education. They said I was emotionally disturbed. But actually I just told my daughter TODAY I only succeeded because my teachers use to tell me your going to make it. You can do it but the rest of them won’t... they taught two grades in one class room. They used different color chark and taught us one grade under. I would speak out against it. I just said I succeeded because of my teachers who was white worked with me.Told me constantly I was a leader... They all rallied for me😢. One time I failed a test because I went to sleep. They had me take it again.. like oh no your smarter than this. I always loved white people because of my teachers motivation. ( no matter another’s opinion. I always had white teachers) your right Umar about racism I do under perfectly well. I love Systematic racism. I’m a corrections officer. I hurt to see all these young black males in jail. I wonder and ponder How did THIS happen all my men are here? the ones that talk like me and relate to me as a African American. I realized it was miseducation, racism, lack of love for the self and so much division among our race.Than I just saw this video 😳 what and eye opening. I thought 💭 it was just me trying to figure out what doI do. Your closer to the answer BUT IM going to help foster care children. I’m going to buy your book awesome. Keep fighting for us😢

The problem is that they have a disconnect. What she is asking Dr. Johnson is 'why can't the AA children learn their culture at home?' He however refuses to ADDRESS that question directly and insists that the two institutions, family and school, are 'molded together,' which still does NOT answer the question. The black urban family SIMPLY IS NOT ECONOMICALLY EMPOWERED ENOUGH TO HAVE THE TIME TO TEACH THEIR/OUR CHILDREN THEIR OWN CULTURE AT HOME. That is what the two educators are overlooking. The black parent HAS TO GO TO WORK... if they BOTH are lucky enough to have a job. The black community is primarily a working class community. THE WORKING CLASS CAN NOT AFFORD ITS OWN EMPOWERMENT. THE HOURLY WAGE IS SIMPLY NOT ENOUGH TO BUY UP YOUR OWN COMMUNITY, while having time on your hands to teach, or be with, your children. WE NEED TO MAKE PROFITS FOR THAT, NOT WAGES. That only comes through ownership and racial property relations. He is also confusing the money that we are spending. That money is THE TOTAL ACCUMULATION OVER A YEARS PERIOD BY GROUPS OF PEOPLE WHO ONLY RECEIVE CRUMBS ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS. When we receive this money (crumbs of hourly wages), we are 'damn near' starving, and are therefore DESPERATE to go to the corner store (owned by foreigners), TO BUY BREAD after we receive our 'checks.' That in itself is a form of control over the masses. We can not do anything with those 'incremental crumbs' that we receive over two weeks. THAT IS WHY WE SPEND OUR MONEY LIKE THAT. We are desperate for pleasure in our miserable lives. If we knew that we could get businesses, or other types of REAL wealth, for just a thousand dollars down payment, THEN WE WOULD BE WILLING TO SAVE OUR MONEY TO BUY TRUE WEALTH AND POWER. We know that WE ARE BLOCKED FROM THAT. That is why we give in to our desires, give up our saving discipline, and spend recklessly ON THEIR GOODS. The problem of BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT must be addressed FIRST. Then we can engage and buy, what we need and want. I like his plan but I don't think that he is properly dealing with our economic reality. He is also assuming that white supremacy will ALLOW him to get this done, 'not on your life.' How can they maintain white supremacy while allowing us to obtain BILLIONS of dollars of wealth to uplift us??? That's a contradiction!!!

She said less than a dozen people in America had that combination of degrees but she could not get a job in the black ghettos of Brooklyn NY. She had been to every school district. She cried bitterly. I never told her I have a Masters degree in Accounting. I started my own business on 194 Wyckoff Avenue in Brooklyn. I fought with all I had. Peace to you traveler.

@@seaor2k122 Its quite simple. here in the UK teachers were just babysitters who didn't teach and let us chill as the school was low on resources. The other teachers were all unqualified substitute teachers.

@@collectneelson749 This is where parents and the school board come into play. It's not a battle for kids. Again, I'll ask. Were your parents aware of what was going on at the school? What did they do to remediate the problem? Parents have the right and the power to report issues in the school curriculum that affect their children negatively.
