The thing with Udio is that it takes alot of work to get anything good out of it. Even just something simple as the lyrics will make a big difference. If the lyrics does not fit the genre you are working with, then it is going to be hard to get a good song. You also have to be very careful when for example uploading a clip and make sure you cut and extend it in the right spot, which also is very important when extending in Udio in general. If you for example have a instrumental break between lyrics, then you have to listen to the song and figure out yourself when it sounds right to bring in the verse or chorus. Another issue that I learned about recently is the sliders for the song length. If you use the 2:11 model and you have it set to make the song in one go, then quality and coherency suffers alot and I think that is why many people think it has gotten worse over the last months. If you instead set it to only do for example 80% at once then it will be significantly better. Also you are using the remix feature all wrong. It will only remix audio you actually give it, so if you upload a 10 second clip and and use the 2:11 model, then you will literally have 2 minutes of silence. What you want to do is remix whatever you have and then cut away the silence and extend it afterwards. Using 60% clarity is another issue that will in most cases degrade the quality. Many people have found that the 25% default is already too high and that around 10% will give better results with most genres. Sometimes when extending you sometimes also have to play around with the context slider to get the results you want. Suno is way better for one click generations, but Udio excels if you add some effort and human input.

First, I am not here to choose one over the other. I spent my money on both. I used both to do all the same things. I learned that one does some things better than the other. They both have their strong points. And I understand this video is primarily about the upload feature. But what I have to say will make you see something far more important than anything one offers and the other does not. What I learned is for me an instant killer of one and should be as important to you. I have over 100 songs that I have completed with Suno. I love them and they sound incredible. Sure there are things I have to cope with about Suno that I do not like and would like to see changed. But nothing that is a platform killer. When I swapped to Udio from Suno, I did so to get some better sound generation. Instruments that sound better. Vocals that were more human-like. I was amazed. Udio sounds great. At least up until the last version was released. Since then, not so much. But it too was usable. Then I discovered a problem so bad that it killed the platform for me. And I talked to several other users that have since left there too. Here's the problem. Some of which Suno does too but not as extreme as Udio. The use of extreme compression/ALC of the output audio is killing every track. As a listener at low volumes most would not notice. But to a skilled ear, this issue is not fixable. You can take it and or the stems into a DAW and see for yourself. The extreme compression is placed on the final output. The stems are then extracted from that file. So the stems too have this same problem. The vocals are being generated much too loud. As they increase the other channels (bass, drums and other instruments are decreasing proportionately. So what you get is an unusable piece of audio. Extremely harsh and loud vocals and all the other tracks, especially the drums and bass, are less. So much less that sometimes they are unheard in the mix. As a sound tech and engineer of more than 30 years, this ducking effect is unbearable. No responsible sound person would ever let this happen. So if you need quality sound output then you will never get that from Udio. I have reached out to their support group and not once did they care to reply. So they know there's an issue but choose to ignore it. Great, just the kind of professionals that will take your money and give you a piece of garbage for it. I have a proof mix that proves everything said here. I sent that to them also. Still no response. So for the time being, Suno is still the better choice. There is no sign of the extreme compression that Udio uses. Chris maybe you would like my results to air on your channel. You can do the DAW load and mix results yourself. No one should ever spend another dollar for Udio until they correct this problem. Right now, they don't seem to even care. It's your time and money but take it from a pro, don't use Udio. Be satisfied with Suno, eventually it will be better than Udio could ever be. The real truth here is, that it is not about the AI or the platform, it's all about the humans running the platform. Thanks for your time and I hope you each have a great day!

I thought I was going crazy. I paid for udio for 2 months and found myself using the free Suno as the overall musicality was just better. Had some weird output from udio, even ultra quality was worse than Suno sometimes. Yes it has more control but it's all about the end result. Thanks for confirming this... Follow your ears not comments

I've just spent about 1 hour with Suno and 4 hours with Udio today. I usually prefer Udio, but both of them were problematic and Udio particularly took forever to get good results. In the end of my 5 hour session, I have 4 good completed songs with Suno and 1 single okay song in Udio. I prefer 1 song/per .25 hours rather than 1 song/per 4 hours.
@frankeee77Ай бұрын
I would love to see an upscale feature in Suno, its creates songs in the fidelity it does now with that fast speed, and when you are done, you 'Upscale' and it remixes the entire song at a fidelity as good as Udio. Adding inpainting and inserting sections would be nice to .
@spnsingingworld4284Ай бұрын
Then it'll be difficult to differentiate between AI and Real voice. It's a dream and hope 4.0 brings those features. Even after uploading my own voice, suno makes it robotic, but it follows the music exactly what I want

It's a shame because Udio was far superior for a brief time. The voices and compositions were next level. Now it often lacks coherence and litters the track with jibberish whether instrumental or vocal. If you know how to prompt Suno, you can get it to about 90% of peak Udio. Maybe after the lawsuits get settled, they'll restore the magic. Thanks for the content!

It sounds like Udio has been downgraded to me as well. I used to get great results but not much recently. They don't exactly just adjust/remove components from the main AI engine without creating new models since it takes a ton of time and money for each change. They do likely adjust sub layers over the main model for input/output when passing data in/out of the model.
@BoOgieAndMelodysVarietyShowАй бұрын
@@jasonshere u know wats crazy? I've told Udio I want country rock or something and they'd give me some kinda incoherent, out of key results dat sounds like a drunk person singing a cartoon theme. I also get annoyed by them repeating the same lyrics, even after u edit it. How can they repeat lyrics dat isn't even there? I continue from were it messed up, add da following lyrics and it's da same results. I've spent hundreds of credits just 2 complete 1 song. If lyrics mess up, Udio should refund our credits 😕
@jasonshereАй бұрын
@@BoOgieAndMelodysVarietyShow I haven't paid for Udio or Suno; I was given a ton of credits at the beginning with Udio which I've been using for several hundred generations. It takes a lot to get a complete song out of Udio though and there longer form generator has been pretty bad overall. I generate my 10 songs each day with Suno for now until I have a more intentional purpose to pay for it.
@PoliticoMLTАй бұрын
Udio has better sound quality and stem downloads, yet fails miserably in yielding catchy tunes. So while I do prefer Udio for random songs, I find myself defaulting to Suno. It seems to produce better catchy tunes. You're spot on on your remarks about the 2. Seems like you need both, yet for my style, again, Suno is the one i find myself gravitating to most of the time, especially when uploading my own tunes (and it keeps the tempo way better)

I think that until Suno improves the vocal quality and stops sounding like a robot, whatever they add, Udio will be better anyway. Sorry

@@ChrisUnlocksAI I think Suno maybe has a better time at slower tempo stuff, even some exotic genres like synthwave it made a surprisingly good job of. But Udio does better for me in general, plus is more generous with commercial use applications compared to Suno.

I have similar problems with the udio output. When I try to make some songs in different Country styles, all seems to sound like Britpop or a punk rock version of it. Till now, I wasn't able to get a single Country song that sounds as it were made in the USA or at least the vocals go wrong at some point and then again (to my ears) the vocalists would better fit in Britpop...... Maybe you simply were lucky to get this version of "Heart of Kentucky". At the moment, Suno simply seems to better fit my needs, so I will go with it and hope that it gets an update in quality and features soon.

Use manual prompts instead of using the default auto. There is also a bunch of subgenres and just using only country as prompt might not be enough. I sometimes use more than 10 prompts at once to get the results I want. Might be helpful to look up actual genres/styles listed on ratemymusic to find out what styles and genres produces a sound similar to what you want. Also for some reason even just lyrics can affect it alot.

I Think in the future Udio will be the top pick for udio, since every noise it makes is generated seperatly, and doesen't intertwine with the rest like suno or any AI really right now. But still, suno is understanding more styles and is more modern, the quality on suno sucks tho, I hope they make an update where u can upper the quality, just like with udio

I was a Suno lover, but Udio is superior in every aspect. It provides more control for creation, editing, fixing, remixing... Better vocals and with the right prompts and configuration, it produces catchier songs, especially when paired with good lyrical structure.

Udio has better fidelity better features, but doesn't understand context, is inconsistent and is slow. Its very hard to get a complete song. Suno does song quite as good (yet), but is phenomemnal in ideas melody and context. I've been having some succes creating 30s bites with intros in Udio and moving them to Suno to finish it.

I found that all suno songs just sound the same. When you add a drum beat to the upload to udio it does better. But the upload feature on suno is definitely better. I just can't deal with the poor audio quality that comes out. It ruins the songs. Also you shouldn't really use the same prompts, they are different products. I also find in udio manual mode you can be very descriptive with what you want (long descriptions).

I suspect that UDIO removed all of the songs in their training data that could cause them to get sued. Thats why it sounds like a MAJOR regression to how good it used to sound. Lately Udio has terrible cohesion, very poor consistency and context.
@bloxyman2214 күн бұрын
I think the real issue is that they added so much complexity with all these new sliders. For example when using the 2min model I find results are much better when setting the song to 80% completion instead of forcing it to generate the entire song at once like the default setting does.

Suno has been much better than Udio lately. Udio will dissolve into gibberish and does not follow the prompts. The only problem I'm finding with suno is this distortion in the vocals that then travels to the music the longer the song gets at times. I wish someone would tell us how these models work, how they generate the music, so that we can understand what's going on. I wish they would give us a negative prompt space so we can try to eliminate some of the more annoying white noise manifestations that tend to pop up. For uploading audio and developing on top of it, especially for doing other languages, Suno right now is much better than Udio. Big shout out to Loudme... It created Afrobeat bangers for me in Mongolian no less. After listening to what you created in Udio, and what I've been getting from it lately I think I'm going to cancel my subscription put it into loudme because what I heard just plain sucked

I agree. Udio has been getting worse; however the models themselves don't change often (they have 2 to choose from). There may be other things going on with their configurations that affect the quality. Make sure to not adjust the advanced settings from the defaults. (Chris adjusted his Clarity above 50 when he should have kept it at 25.) Suno is great for quick and complete songs. I've recently spent 1 hour with Suno and produced 4 songs vs 4 hours with Udio and produced 1 song. A negative prompt would be awesome. (Prompt adherence can be adjusted in Udio though.)
