UDM SSH CREDENTIALS - Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine (or Pro) SSH Credentials

I've been seeing some confusion and questions about how to SSH into your UDM or UDM Pro. There are two different types of SSH credentials you'll be dealing with. The first is device authentication and the other is the actual UDM SSH credentials. In this video we'll setup and change both!

First time (and only time) I set it, I think I reversed them. Got frustrated and have yet to ssh on the udm pro thinking I’ll try it later. Something simple but it needs explaining because there is some confusion. Thank you!

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I had forgotten about the UDM specific password setting vs the setting for adopted devices. I little clunky on the interface IMO to have two different places to set a ssh pw, but that's just me. Thanks again!

Hey Willie, long time viewer, first time poster here 😀. Recently I have asked a couple of youtube users to walk us through some of the lastest firmware changes of the UDM. Preferably not the pro version but the normal UDM which is more geared towards home users like myself. I would specifically like to know if users can finally configure the UDM for use as a VPN client for, by way of example, NordVPN or another well known VPN provider. Most have ignored this request outright. Would you be able to step up and give us the latest and greatest rundown of the UDM as of March 2021?

I have the UDM (non-pro) but I can't get to the Unifi Setting page like the pro. How should I set up the SSH to the UDM itself?

Same thing... I have no clue how to enable ssh into the actual UDM.

@@sizzleweet Go to Devices, then click on UDM IP address, login to device and then click settings at the bottom of the page

I had to turn off SSH advanced features the internet was wonky it kept dropping connections and really broke my device. Not working yet. Changed the setting back and it works again.

Hi Willie. Thank you for this info. If I ssh into my us-16-150w is there a command to make the switch refresh it’s ip client list as the gui in the controller won’t update properly?

my udm pro updated itself to 1.70 GA build. my protect crashed and i reloaded the firmware. the problem now is ive lost all my 4 cameras. i can ping all 4 cams but cannot log in by ssh or by website (all credentials refused) i think the default camera password generated by protect was never changed to something easy to remember. i dont want to have to grab a ladder and go 60 ft in the air to hard reset my cams. is there anything else that can be done?
