Took me two goes before I realised that My yaw was pluged into my roll. Made for some interesting effects. Also Took me a couple of hours to work out WTF was happening to my guy after i loaded the gun whenever i walked forward I was going backward. (to help those out there) Open your RifleBP Change collision Presets to OverlapOwnlyPawn , I donno if this is the best way but it worked for me... ANYHOW Thanks Rakiz mad tutorials. I have watched them like 20 times each lol

Great video! I'm having issues with the character not lifting his gun and his motion is jerky. However, he does turn and look as he should. It seems like maybe something to do with the bone used but I cannot find that setting in the animgraph. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've set up the auto rotation part of character blueprint but the character never ended up using the aim offset to follow the camera. After setting up the aim offset graph what step do I need to do to apply the aim offset.

TheDeadFriend SOLVED! In the "Additive Settings" in the previous video I had set the base pose type to the corresponding animations CL = CL, CR = CR etc.. But I needed to set them all to use the base pose of CC. CL = CC, CR = CC etc.. thanks anyway

Is in Aim Offset Rotation never is true? My character won't rotate when he's turned all the way to the sides and he wont aim behind because of it, he get stuck forward

If i strafe ie hold forward + direction all is well, but with direction only my character spazes out shaking left to right while moving. I suspect its something to do with aimoffset, I am using the Rifle ainimset pro. Also.... I dont have IsCombatMode but bCombatMode - Can someone advise or is more info needed? I also want to take the chance to thank the guy for doing this, although sad to see its not fully what was in the intro with squat etc but so far the furthest i have got in UE4 thanks to you. I realy hope you will pick this back up one day soon, you make a big difference to noobs like me!

Rakiz Farooq Hej , why don't you put auto rotating stuff in the AnimBP instead of Character Tick event? (tried to do this and for some reason, my character start jittering as hell lol, so probably that's why its going to CharacterBP) --- Update: Just fixed it while swapping delta rotator input A-B.

AnimBP controls movement of the skeletal mesh. Auto-rotation is done by updating the capsule component which is not a part of the skeletal mesh. So it made more sense to handle it in the main BP. I would not read too much into where things are handled in this video. It is many years old and It's purpose was to get a basic understanding of what needs to be done to get things up and running. If you have a better organization for your code you should do that.

Amazing tutorial! I encountered a problem when i attached a gun to my character, when i selected snap to target in attach actor to component, my character starts floating when i click play. i quite can't figure out what causes it.

Oni64 yeah just move the camera boom upwards. In the blueprint components tab select the camera boom and set the Z value on the camera's Target Offset between 100-150. That should give you something very similar to what you are looking for.

TheAftershock1999 The animations in the starter pack do not support aiming backwards. You'd need to find updated animations that have aiming at 180 degrees. Once you have those animations the process of the building the aimoffset is exactly at the same as shown in the video except your limits will be at 180 not 90 degrees. There is an example of that in the content samples project from Unreal.

After attaching the weapon when I play now my character gets pushed around the map for some reason and the aim offset always starts facing at the floor...Ive done everything like you said but its not working. Im using version 4.7.5 would that be the problem?

Danny Twynham Nope .. I've used 4.7.5 with these steps and had no issues. The character capsule and the rile is probably colliding. That would push the character around. Try recreating the rifle bp without collision. For the aimoffset make sure you properly set the base pose on animation individually.

Yeah I guessed it was the collision because I took the gun away and I wasnt getting pushed around but the aim offset was still off, I did it all right but Im gonna start it again just in case

Danny Twynham I had the same problem using a prototype rifle from the asset store. I had to go to the skeletal mesh file of the rifle and find the "physical asset" list and select clear. hope that helps

Thank you for the amazing tutorials Rakiz! I followed it all the way but when my character is in combat mode and I move the mouse/character right and left there seems to be some kind of delay. Kind like a lag. Up and down is fine. Any idea why??

+Scott Bez That is not a bug, its a feature :) You probably did not set the 'Rinterp To' speed correctly. It is provides a smoother aiming motion. You can remove this feature by opening the AnimBlueprint and tweaking the RInterp To Node's Interp Speed. Higher is faster, lower is slower. I used 8 which I think gives a decent result. Or you can bypass the node entirely.. Connect the Delta Rotator to the Break Rot node infront of RInterp and that should give you instant results without any delay.

Thanks for answering my question very quickly Rakiz. I'm not sure this is part of your feature :), the lag/delay i'm experiencing happens like a snapping effect. i.e. as i move the mouse to the left or right the character in combat mode stays still until i move the mouse at least a few inches and then all of a sudden he begins to move his weapon etc. Unless Ive totally messed things up? i don't think i have because your tutorial was excellent put together.

Hello, I love your videos. They are very helpful. I am stuck on adding the weapon to the character. I can easily change from normal mode to combat mode and I can move forward and backwards easily but when I add the weapon to the blueprint so the character is holding the weapon in combat mode the character walks all messed up. Everytime I press "W" in combat mode, the character moves backwards and to the left. Also, when the character is not in combat mode and I try to just walk the movements are messed up as well. Do you know what I did wrong? Thank you :)

So the previous video was good, but any time someone makes a tutorial where they just show their codes always creates problems. I am forced to go find another aim off set video because of this, as for some reason my offset isnt working and i believe it's related to a checkbox in the char bp.

+BrokenTV That is not enough info to determine the issue. I'd suggest you look at the node title to see what object the node represents. Then you can decide if it makes sense to make call any particular methods or properties on that object.

no thats fine i sorted it in the end its because i made a character and replaced the ue4 mannequin BP class with my character so it wasn't picking it up correctly but it works now also i love the tut its showed me alot but its not exactly begginer friendly because you just give us your results to copy you dont show us what nodes to use etc so it would be better if you made a tutorial for the same thing but explaining abit better :) anyway i have a problem with the same thing im doing the anim graph now but cant seem to find the nodes you are using :/ and the combat mode is that your own variable ? is there anything i have to do with it to make it work

Yes I do use Wwise a lot, I don’t really like FMOD too much though, a lot of indie devs use the sound engine right out of the box, but it depends on the project of course. Would you help me with a anim query related to the aim offset offline? I am having trouble getting my shoot montage to blend with my aim offset, Its probably really simple, but my character shoots forward still and doesnt follow the direction of the aim offset. I created the AimOffsetBP from video 5, it looks good. Character looks appropriately with the mouse position. I don't have a weapon equipped(Collision is disabled). I toggle combat mode with a key press. When i enter combat mode, only the arms move, but they twisted and stretched. Nothing like it should.

+David Huynh (Magic Man) I used TPCharBP instead of AnimStarterBP. To get it to work for any character. In Video #5, the the part where everything is set to CC, substitute it for your character's default pose.

you have destiny? i only play like one month and have all 3 characters max, and complete all but the last 35 level, warframe was way better an it was free when the ps4 came out, but hell yeah imma get another pc if i have to sell or trade my ps4, i made my own mario for wii stages with reggie - rvlution.net/reggie/ cool to be able to play them on wii, or dolphin on pc, but like what happen to games like super mario world? be nice to get back into making games, sometime soon'age. o my psn is ATL2COOLCBT mostly waste time on destiny

I figured out why it wasn't working. I was using a "RInterp to Constant" node rather than a "RInterp To" node.
