This is the best tutorial on the new IK retargeter! Compared to other tutorials you went more in depth to cover the issues and solutions. Please look into the different IK solvers maybe a few limb solvers might be better than a full body IK.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!! MAN I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I have been sitting here so incredibly angry for a LONG TIME, because I was setting up the ROOT for the movement of the character. I didn't know it was the Pelvis. I'm fairly new to Unreal Engine, and have been insanely frustrated because I am using it for short films and animation stuff, not for video games. I am confused, can you help me understand your mentioned don't be fooled by the root at 4:10 roughly when setting the root to the pelvis and not the root bone? That's a little confusing as to why that's the mentioned case since that's labeled bone-wise as root.

After you have your body moving correctly you can continue creating the rest of the bone chains for the fingers. Simply select the base bone of each finger and shits select the tip and create each chain. It really won´t take you too much time, once you do a couple you will get faster and faster. Cheers!

Hey there, Really amazing tutorial but I have a Question regarding Importing Paragon Characters in UE5. Because when I'm importing the Belica or any other, the materials are not loading for most of the Skins. Maybe it's because of Material Function or something or I just need to recreate all the Materials using Textures? May I know how you did that plz. Thanks in advance

That Belica I imported in UE4 and reused that project as a UE5, so i really didn't import her to UE5, let me take a look and ill get back if i see any issues, thank you for the heads up!

amazing tutorial! but I'm encountering a problem with the rig, since instead of using the UE avatar I imported it from Blender. Do both rigs need to have the same number of bones for it to work? It mimics the animation perfectly until I add the IK

Nope, both can have diferent number of bones, what is important is to name your chains correctly.

Anyone asking about fingers just have to make chains for each finger also, index01 - index03, middle01 - middle03, ring 1-3, pinky 1-3 and thumb 1-3 for both hands

@@GUMLIVES Thanks for the reply! I am using the standard Y mixamo character and I am trying to retarget several of the mixamo animations to a Metahuman character. They look great in the preview. However, all of them cause the program to crash when exporting. I found that by NOT including the fingers, the export works fine. I am assuming that this is a bug.
