Crazy how much time you spent texturing the house by hand. I always thought these things have to be done fast and procedurally but you literally handpainted a lot of it. It really adds the details you wouldn't expect in a render, making the scene look (more) photoreal. Thx for the breakdown, I learned a lot just watching that. 🙏
@DamSchool Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I am glad it was helpful! I do a lot of things procedurally, but it has his limits. If everything is procedural it tend to look a bit fake and generated. The house in that case is almost a Hero props so definitely will be hand painted.

It's crazy that so many people just spend hours into such assets to just render them for such short and tiny scene. I am used to creating game assets and can't see to just spend so much time for such video to impress people. My huge respect.
@DamSchool24 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words and respect! Just to clarify, I didn’t create this piece to impress anyone, I genuinely love working on personal projects. For me, it’s about pushing the tech as far as I can and exploring what’s possible. With Freelancing taking up so much time, these projects are a refreshing way to reconnect with creating art. While this turned into a 20-second video, the assets could absolutely be used in a game. This project taught me a lot about Unreal, and I’m excited to say my upcoming piece will be much longer. Plus I am actually surprised this one got so much attention.. Cheers!
@MrGTAmodsgerman24 күн бұрын
@@DamSchool Oh then you like me. Because i would only do this for such cases to learn Unreal or simular. But a lot of people do this to put it on they portfolio as a example piece to impress people. Which i also did and quite feels like waste of time. It turned out great. Expecially considering you haven't photoscanned anything and just used Painter.

Hey Damien, what would be the reason to export the scene from 3ds max to unreal rather than importing it all back in max & rendering there? Have you found it easier to texture & build the scene in unreal along with real time rendering? Do you prefer Gaea over World creator 2023? Thanks!
@DamSchool11 ай бұрын
No particular reason, only for pushing real-time game engine as far as I could. Yeah I could have done it with Vray IPR but I do love unreal for assembly, the instances materials,nanite, etc... it has lots of potential and the real-time viewport is a game changer for me when working. I do prefer Gaea cause you can really do crazy stuff. But textures in World creator are better. So far it's all preferences and it's all same tools, just use was is the most comfy and push it faaaaaar, make it suffer haha

Thanks for the words! I am not sure if it will replace, there is lots of room for improvements and it can get super complex to do simple things.. @@Matt.visualz Haha Thanks! Lumen is a bit special. But I am planing on releasing some tutorial on this piece where I will explain everything. But if you re aiming for photorealistic render, try also to treat your scene as is. Real cameras values, Real aperture, no need of any fancy post process and Only few lights needed, and so on. Also cloudy skies are always easier to render cause everything is flat and moody. Bright sun will be more tricky but doable. In brief this is what I did here, treated it like something I would film myself. Also Can you use Nanite with Path tracing? that's a big thing to consider too
