I'm literally in school for this and I never understood fully, you made everything crystal clear and it's pretty exciting to fully understand it now. Thank you!

This series has been super helpful. This is my first time using UE to render stuff from Maya and Substance.

Hey nice job with the tutorial! A question though: where do you get your textures from? Is there a free package somewhere? I have a hard time finding textures like normals, etc.
@kennmacintosh2627 Жыл бұрын
So how did you get the material to apply the wood to the barrel slates and metal to the metal rings and spout? I didn't see you do any UV unwrapping of the model. Or is that in another tutorial?
@sarkamari Жыл бұрын
Best is to UV map any obj BEFORE you import to UE5. That process wasn't really part of this tut. (I uv mapped everything in Maya)

For the purposes of this question, I'll use the "family" figure of speech, all my parent or master material the "parent", and instance materials, the "children." Can I make an instance OF an instance? An instance of an instance would be a "grandchild" to the parent. If so, would changes made at the parent level propagate through the kids to the grand kids assuming I had all my nodes and parameters set up correctly?
@sarkamari2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark; Interesting question. The answer is no because we cannot parameterise an instanced material. However you can create as many instances as you wish by promoting multiple attributes from the parent Material. Hope this helps

you're gorgeous ! I have a question. My player character contains 15 different materials. all these materials are basic color. How should I collect them in one go? Which is the best way?
