Uechi Ryu Karate Sanchin Kata Intense Body Testing in Okinawa by Grand Master Kiyohide Shinjo

Sanchin Kata is the foundation kata of the Uechi-Ryu karate system. Shown here is the dynamic and extreme body testing method of Grand Master Kiyohide Shinjo, in his Kenyukai Dojo, Kadena, Okinawa, 1990's. The recipient is Hanshi Alan Dollar.

It's been a long time since I trained Uechi Ryu (early 90's) but the body conditioning was amazing. I was victim of an attempted mugging by two guys in a train station underpass and i barely felt anything, and they certainly felt the forearm blocks - enough that they reconsidered and backed away letting me escape. Definitely worth the time and effort.

I’ve been training in Uechi Ryu for a year. The body conditioning yields undeniable results. Advice to anyone who doubts it: Don’t knock it until you try it.
