I got the UF Pro Gen 2 shorts and they are badass. They have a built in velcro inner belt, so you can just strap on your gun belt without having to loop an inner belt in first.

The striker also has 2 gens of the striker pants. The gen 2 has also added knee straps if you want to secure your knee protection extra tight to your leg.

You haven't shown the greatest features of the UfPro's. The system of 5 different ways to have your knees protected. For me Crye has only 2 options. With or without the knee pads. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. But the whole UfPro system of fabrics and thoughts about their products are making me speechless. Difference between these are just considering the "U.S." range thinking. For me it's about the versatility of UfPro's for all kinds of conditions.

@@tornad8063 In some cases yes. On the shooting range, you don't have to have full knee protection every time. I think that it's great to have more options than just one or two.

Not that I do but just a thought about the pads in the knees for "civilian life". At any given time, on any given day, at any given place an active shooter or civil unrest situation could occur. You wouldn't have time to run to your house or vehicle to change into your tactical pants. Kind of like the reason alot of people EDC their weapon. You never know when or where you will be put in a situation to save your self or others.

So where do the kneepads tend to fall in relation to the actual position of your knee in the Crye's and UF Pro's? Should you order them longer or shorter than you normally order pants in order to get the kneepad area to naturally center at your knee?

The Crye's are totally adjustable on the height and location of the knee pads, the UF Pro is not, but I'm 5'10" and the regular length UF's would probably be good on knee pad location. But for max adjustability, Crye

What's your take on sizing of the pants in waist and length? Are they true to size or do you find they are a bit on the tight and short side from what you normally get?

Find some tactical pants, try them and if it's comfortable, then measure them. UfPro's are greatly accurate in measures. I tried to buy them just over the web and it sits perfectly. With the waist, you have to consider, that strikers have two pieces of the rubber bands on their sides, but they are not long and so stretchy as at the other brands, otherwise it can allow you to get some good stuff on the plate☺ sometimes. On the other hand the material on the rear side is so stretchy, that it's almost like sweatpants. Afetr waist, you have to measure the inner side of hose. There it's great to have some pants tried on, founded comfy. Then you find out the exact length of pants. But if you choose good size, you won't regret. I fell in love with this brand and since I've tried their pants, I started with saving money for other parts of their great stuff. Like their ACE winter jacket. It's not cheap, but I think that I'll come for it😁

For the crye's how true is the sizing. You said you're 5'10" and got the 30" waist. Can you adjust the waist up to a 31" easily? And what length pant did you get with the crye?

Unpopular opinion: I don't like Crye Gen 4s I have been using Gen3s for years but wanted to get some Gen 4s because of how fucking hot it is where I work. To their credit, they are vastly superior to the Gen 3, and especially the G3 fire retardant pants, but I only wearing them for training and not while actually working because the the knee pad system is shit. Where the Gen3 shock cord goes to the front thigh pocket (ie straight up) and gives you good adjustment range and actually situates the knee pad precisely where it is needed, the Gen4 has moved the shock cord slightly laterally to fit it in the side velcro pocket. The offset isn't much, but it is enough that using the shock cord to raise the knee pads winds up pulling the pads to the outside and off your knees, no matter how much you tighten the velcro bit just below the knee. This is a deal breaker. Having to reach down and rotate the pad back onto my knee before dropping down is fucking stupid, but cracking down onto concrete on my actual kneecap is more stupider, hence why I only wear these to training. Ive got some UF Pro XT Gen 2s on order and I'm looking forward to seeing how they compare. As far as I'm concerned, the Crye Gen3 is the best product they offer, so the UF Pros will be competing for supremacy against those.

And a quick FYI, the Striker X Combat Pant is a more apples to apples comparison. Field repairable buttons vs zippers, kneepad wraps for adjustability, heavier fabric, etc.

Yeah you don’t meet to fix the knee pad to your knee , because when you kneel down they will sit 100% perfect on your knee if you have choosen the right size

Exactly. For my opinion they have so many options for the size of the wearer, that incomparable to any other brand of "tactical" pants. It's just about choosing the right size. I know, that little bit of an adjustment would be fine, but you can choose a little bit more in the waistline and have some belt to fit it perfectly. Then you have some space to "grow". I know that UfPro have no options for the really big guys, but it's meant to be for the guys who need them for "work" (duty), not to guys who wants to look cool on the range. Conclusion of this video is easy for me. Try UfPro's in correct size and you won't want others. For me, they are like Koenigsegg or Pagani compared to Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren. They're small, but they are making great stuff comparable to the biggest brands products.

So Crye saw what UF Pro were doing, tried to rip off their concepts, added in a few features copied from First Tactical and released them as G4? 😄 Incidentally - 05:47 - The cellphone pockets you're missing are the open ones on the outside of each thigh pocket there, framed by the twin zippers - There is a plastic strap inside to keep the phone in place... and just in front of those there are two thin vertical pockets tucked under the flap for pens, chemlights, etc. Nice watch, by the way. I have the same one myself!

@@1911syndicate Not positive either, but as a direct comparison/response it doesn't look good and they are following certain other brands, too... I'd question the 'gold standard' assertion, though - Our guys recently got issued a load of Crye Gen4 kit, and those allowed to privately purchase their own stuff are already binning the Crye in favour of UF Pro - There are a lot of close ties with the Europeans and we seem to be concurring. American stuff tends to work really well in America, but not always in other environments, and at these prices there are diminishing returns to consider. That's not to say Crye are crap... but they do have a lot of design choices that just don't fit the way we work. If anything, as a result of their reputation Crye are perhaps the standard against which all others are measured, but some brands are starting to *exceed* that measure. Platinum Standard, if you will. Unfortunately none of them include a plasma TV, despite the prices suggesting they should!
