Come on everyone. You have to give the Shred some credit. 2nd year team taking it all the way to the title game. NY has had many years to build their foundation. SL will be back even better next year.

I was hoping Salt (Sale) Lake could pull this one off but NY is just making all the right connections and plays. Props to all the players for doing what they do.

last years final i remember thinking 'they just played perfect'. This time they weren't perfect and it didnt matter because the fire power up and down their lines is just insurmountable.

@brianchassee when your arguably best player all year, Babitt doesn't even feature that heavily and you win in a runaway, you're doing something right. Jagt switches over to offense and the machine keeps on chugging. Then Davis decides to have his best games of the year this weekend.

They're huge, they're fast, they've all played a bunch together. They have the best deep target, the best deep defender, the best poach defender, and the best handler defender. They have the best thrower and the best iso cutter. For some of those you're not even sure which Empire player I'm talking about! This team is too good.

It's getting a bit boring now. 2 perfect seasons in a row? Watch NY make some crazy acquisitions in the offseason and do the same next year. The AUDL need to do something to make this league competitive

The defense all game from Davis on Kerr. Sheesh

I mean what are you supposed to do as salt lake, those matchups are terrible. Kerr, who has been their continuation guy, has davis, whos closing speed and playstyle means those free unders now come with a heavy cost, not to mention the tricky passes become a lot harder with davis on the mark. Dunevile, who has been their sneaky deep release, has to try that against babbitt?? Think again. Tan just had lindsleys number all game, and klutton/jagt is at best a 50/50. When you neutralize 4 of a teams biggest threats its just not gonna go well for them, and that was on full display

not just a win, but a legit THUMPIN'. Really hope this team stays this engaged... maybe someday players could make a living off of playing for the league

5:45 Davis jumps earlier and presumably would get the disc first but he smashes over Kerr while Kerr is starting to come up. I like the old USA ultimate rule that if your hand grabbed plastic first than contact afterwards was incidental, i.e. you weren't going to get the disc because it's gotten and there's no foul. In this case, I'm not sure Kerr wouldn't've gotten it. And it just seems like bad manners on Davis' part. I'm wondering if he could've jumped more vertically and reached over Kerr a bit. That would've demonstrated convincingly better control and athleticism.
@timothysullivan1669
@timothysullivan1669 Жыл бұрын
Dude not just that, if you watch the slow mo replay after at 5:50 from the back angle you can clearly see his hand was fully on Kerr’s back as he jumped up. It was a textbook push-off, plain and simple. Could have gotten the D without it? Maybe. But he definitely fouled the crap out of Kerr there

@@timothysullivan1669i agree with the both of you, I think it should've been a foul -- unfortunately I don't think it would've mattered in the grand scheme of the game, but still not great on Davis and the ref's part :(

Not to take away from all that New York does to be as dominant as they are, but this team is bad for the league and fans. When championship weekend is downright uninteresting because one team can win a semifinal matchup without even playing their best players, and then the final is just not even competitive, that's a problem for the league. I don't begrudge anyone doing the super team thing in club because that's self-funded, self-organized and you play for pride. This is supposed to be entertainment and the objective is to sell tickets so when the outcome is predetermined, that punches a pretty big hole in the appeal. I think some New York players are going to have to ask themselves if they really care about the game or just winning.
@lukebarry5019
@lukebarry5019 Жыл бұрын
I disagree with large aspects of what you are pointing out here. First these players have jobs in the NY area so it’s also better for them to play in NY not just for “pride”. Additionally this kind of domination is great. It builds a fan base for that team for years to come and when eventually they come up against another juggernaut and lose that game will be one for the record books. You have to have a team that wins a lot so that it can finally lose to start a fun exciting rivalry not just random teams winning every year from players moving around because “its not good for the league”. I would have a big cake every 4-5 years than small slices every year if that makes any sense.

@@ericwright1096possible we could split the empire into 2 New York teams. It’s not like New York having two sports teams in the same league is new or anything. At this point it’s just stupid, the players aren’t gonna go anywhere so we’re either waiting on retirement of a massive amount of players or another super team to appear if nothing comes to break them up. I’m not a fan of it breaking teams up but at this point it seems warranted

I didn't this year, but I would have enjoyed the part at the end if they go "ball control offense" and literally make three or four minutes of passes to run out the clock. It's impressive to watch.
