Bj penn fought with lightheavyweights and frankie who is naturally featherweight is fighting welterweight is freaking awesome. Its like khabib fighting romero or tyron woodley fighting rampage jackson.

@@RENEIND Khabib would destroy both of them. Edgar in the modern era is better suited for the smaller weight classes. BJ would probably get beat by Gathje or Dustin because he clearly would have struggled against calf kicks based on his style.

I watched this fight twice and I didn't see Frankie winning. I saw BJ winning the first 3 Rds and Frankie with 4 and 5 with because of the take downs but it really didn't do damage. Frankie is the Challenger in this fight and he didn't decisively beat BJ Penn to win the belt.

Yeah that’s fair. I think maybe the judges expected more from BJ and so when he wasn’t landing as much and wasn’t hurting Edgar as much as he usually is, they might have wrongly had the opinion in their head of ‘if Frankie lands something and BJ doesn’t, that’s a point in itself’. At least the 2nd fight wasn’t as clouded as this fight.

I actually don’t think Frankie should’ve won. Like he did outpace penn. and he did out strike him. But most strikes were just touches. Sure he took him down twice. But penn stood right up. This isn’t wrestling. Takedowns aren’t everything. Neither man really stood out in this fight. Except that Edgar seemingly had more gas in the tank at the end. IMO the only way to dethrone a champ is to be the clearly dominant competition, as the champ has already proved their worth to be champ and the contender has not. As I said neither man stood out here. Neither were hurt. Neither controlled the octagon. Neither were the aggressors for a significant amount of time. And both still had fight to give at the end. It just wasn’t enough for me. And I hate BJ penn. If this were a regular bout, or two ppl competing for a vacant belt I’d definitely give it to Edgar, but I don’t think he did enough to dethrone another. A good example of not much happening (like this fight) but one of the competitors being clearly dominant is the recent masvidal vs Usman fight. But yeah oh well
@jessiejoy1703
@jessiejoy1703 4 жыл бұрын
Andre The Giant I get that BJ didn’t do well. But neither did Edgar. I don’t think anyone in that particular fight was champion material. But BJ had proved before hand that he is champ material ergo he probably should’ve kept it. But oh well. No biggie
