What Dana is trying to say is Conor isn't stripped of his belt until Tony and Khabib fight. The winner gets the belt and Conor gets stripped of the belt same day. This way Conor gets to keep the belt for a few more months also to be safe in case either fighter pull out and the fight doesn't happen.

Good on you Ariel for asking clarification about the belt. Which legit mainstream sport is heavily controlled just by one player/individual except for the UFC? It seems to me they are trying to kill two birds with 1 stone. If conor would beat Tony he would have to defend it against Khabib next. If conor would beat Khabib he would have to defend the belt against Tony. In this current situation- he would fight only Tony or Khabib- because the one who will lose this bout will have to fight his way back into a contender position. This is all about minimalizing risks for Conor, that is so obvious and blatantly clear.

And Conors got over 100 million dollars in the bank, so you're gonna need alot of money to get that man to fight. Tony on the other hand just isn't that big of a draw. But hes still very frustrating to fight, with his awkward style. A Khabib fight might actually be the only thing worth while for Conor besides a third Nate Diaz fight.
