I don't think he can touch Khabib, but he deserves this moment of glory. That's a very hardworking man right there. He's had his ups and downs and has been in the UFC for what, 10 years? He took the real fighter's road, fought tough competition, didn't trash talk his way up or skip the line like famous fighters do. He did it the old way. Much respect to him, he really deserves it.

Not to take away from Stylebender (because that fight was one of the best fights in UFC history) but Dustin's interim belt win is probably the most significant interim belt win ever because he actually beat a belt holding champion in Max Holloway, even though Max's belt wasn't on the line, he still beat a current champion. I just feel like Dustin's belt means a tad more than all the others. If Undisputed Belts are a 10, interim belts are a 5, but Dustin's is a 7, not quite 10..but close.

100% agreed. I have always said exactly the same thing. While it was interim, and Dustin I think subconsciously made the fatal mistake of putting all his emotional eggs in this basket (feeling like he'd 'completed his journey', like some said in this interview here, despite him also saying it was a 'piece of the world title'), it made this so significant because Max was becoming a dominant champion at the time and Poirier beat him in a weight class just 10lbs up. It wasn't like Max did a McGregor and went up 25lbs on 11 days notice like with Nate. This victory had a lot more substance with Dustin beating a then champion so close to his weight class.

Its crazy Max hurt Dustin more than once considering the obvious size and power difference. Like Dustin said it took time to get his body adjusted to 155 if Max makes the jump up and takes some fights to work up I think he can gain that body mass.
