The way he puts his chin up and hands down is not good but he can fix that hopefully. I knew his speed and footwork would be the difference. I knew if Overeem could beat him, tom definitely could. Jiri and Alex gave their blessings to the whole card, this was just bangers and violence non-stop. Chad finishes from Gordon, Lopez, Saint-Denis and Andrade, Aspinall is a beast, and while I'm happy for Poatan I'm also heartbroken for Jiri. Such as the case when you love both guys who have to fight each other.

There was a lot of talk about Aspinall only having 2 weeks to prepare for Pavlovich... But the fact is, 2 weeks is not enough time to prepare to fight Aspinall. He's such a unique heavyweight, there's no way Pavlovich knew how to handle him. I expected Tom to run through Pav, but I expected a takedown, not meeting him in the middle and piecing him up with the hands. Magic times for UK MMA.

Aspinal is the real deal, caught Pav with an equilibrium temple shot like JDS Vs Cain. + insane power, speed, , chin, head movement and footwork, and he has enough grappling to deal with tricky strikers. Haven’t seen a fighter this complete since Stipe. Only issues are his open striking defence, and maybe cardio… if it goes the distance with Jones maybe he’ll gas

Tom review he said that SOME people overlooked Tom leg kicking the crap out of Sergey and also SOME people didn't think Tom chin wouldn't hold up. Yet in his breakdown pre-fight, WEASLE was the one who mentioned nothing about leg kicks and didn't see Tom's chin holding up. As a matter of fact, he claimed Sergey would win precisely because Tom's chin wasn't good enough.

I think guru’s take on the stoppage was spot on. I thought it was slightly early too but refs need to be consistent with these calls. It feels like it’s been more common to see main card fights with early or slightly early stoppages compared to prelims. Again, it wasn’t a bad stoppage at all cuz Alex definitely was doing damage with the elbows but if there’s even the slightest chance that jiri could recover then he should get the chance. I think if Alex kept full mount and landed 2 punches that would’ve been an appropriate time to stop it. If the fight went on even 4 more seconds I don’t think it wouldve been a late stoppage

For me, this was the best card of the year and goes in the history books it had so many amazingly brutal and exciting finishes that Benoit finish had me screaming my lungs out both main and co main were so intense it was palpable also early prelims and prelims had good kos and fights overall an instant classic. Only thing I think Jiri has such a quick ability to recover that he woke up even though the ko was actually really brutal those Travis brown style elbows are nasty and an undervalued strike if it lands on the temple which Alex was placing them the damage is legitimate oh yes and a good women's fight nice to see Dern koed.

God of War's head kick was one of the most insane things ive ever seen in 25 years of watching mma. It wasnt a wild haymaker caution the the wind kick; there was zero opportunity for him to be in danger if he missed, and the way his leg went completely straight up and so textbook....the fundamentals are insanely sound for a man who isnt a veteran.

I understand what you’re saying comparing the lack of stoppage with Slava to the seemingly early stoppage with Jiri. But if you go back and look, slava’s eyes were strangely there and he continued to try and fight immediately. It’s actually insane how much of a dog slava is. Jiri was in for a takedown and got elbowed in the side of the head until he fell on to his back with Alex in full mount. Aside from getting completely flatlined, that is literally the worst case scenario of everything that could’ve possibly happened to him right there and I don’t hate the stoppage at all. Jiri also has absurd recovery he’s woken up from being flatlined in the middle of his fights at least twice now. A lot more respect for him now than I did before the fight

One legit worrying thing was Aspinal dodge blows with his hands down. He was testing fate having his chin out, hands down, weidman vs silva-esque. Very fun performance.

Stipe obviously only wants a JJ pay day before retiring, fighting Aspinall and losing would put that at risk

I knew as soon as I saw Dern with out Jason Perillo during fight week, she was going to loose. How does she replace him with her new boyfriend for her corner?? Jason was in the crowd too, probably ashamed because she looked like an absolute amateur. How does she still not know how to shoot a takedown lmao

Frankly, one of the best cards this year quality-wise. Spectacular finishes, multiple great fights, main/co-main event bangers where both winners wrote history.

Man third comment sorry I just finished your video and wow couldn’t agree more about the stoppage!!! Prelim fights they guys are nearly dead and continuing and yet with BELT on the line they stop early. Mark Goddard who I like did the same shit with the Izzy fight. I think they all would have ended the same. BUT let them get finished! They deserve it. The fans deserve it and no one wants to wonder what if. If need be have fighter, sign a waiver to say not to stop it until I am out or whatever but this early stopping shit has got to stop. Anyway awesome predictions and awesome recap of the card. What a great one it was.

Dern did the “girl fight thing” whenever she started getting hit she just started flailing aimlessly. I’m honestly surprised it took Andrade that long to knock her out. The ONLY thing Dern had going for her was her jab.

i have the same feeling about jiri/pereira stoppage as i did with lewis/pavlovich or volkov/rozenstruik... yeah the fighter was still there, but it was more than obvious where things were going.... try to put positive spin on it - jiri took less damage than he needed to...

It was a sort of bad stoppage and I'm no fan of Goddard but imagine being in his shoes. Jiri literally fell backwards after a tornado of elbows to the temple and Alex landed in mount. In that split second I can see how Goddard thought he was out cold. Either way he was about to get flatlined from mount. Even Jiri admitted he was gone, cause he's a legend.

People saying the Jiri stoppage was early after he just got dropped with a left hook and took about 14 elbows to the side of his head 😂

Madson was a greco wrestler so like they can’t touch the legs so that’s why he’s so good in the clinch.

It wasn't an early stoppage. Watch it in slow motion. Jiri went totally limp and fell backwards. Watch his hands when Alex is elbowing him they go totally limp towards the ground.
