Yess!! I was expecting a video of you about the last UFC event of the year. I think I'm getting used to coming here to see your opinions and analysis, and as always, it is very eye-opening hearing your takes... So intelligent in both aspects, the fight itself and skills displayed in the ring, and also your read about the environment/mental aspect of the fighters, all while also considering their personalities, camp, stage in their careers... You rock! Also, making sure to wish you all the best this year that just started! 🙂

Leon did a good job at constantly switching stances, pressuring Colby, and throwing many strikes up the middle to deter the takedown. He threw a lot of "decoy" front kicks I bet just to get it in Colby's head. Smart. Colby's only chance was to make the fight chaotic and fast-paced.

I think the idea that Leon sucked and Colby is washed is utterly crazy. Fighters like Leon have the 'Machida Effect' where guys like WB or Israel make you look hesitant and boring thanks to their styles. Their distance management, feints and counters are hard for the audience to see but they were freezing Colby in place for good reason. I bet Colby saw hundreds of times that if he put his hand in the fire Leon was going to take his head off. You can win a convincing decision against someone like WB and still have it hurt your brand because he made you look 'off' or have people start questioning if you are overhyped. It's what these guys do to people and why no one wants to fight them... it's a hard, technical fight and the probability of it actually paying off isn't great. You can criticize Colby for not saying 'fuck it' if you want but watch when Machida knocked out Bader and see where that bravery lands you.

I totally agree that Belal deserves the next shot and will bring the fight we expected Colby to bring. It was really odd watching Colby not come forward. Royval pissed me off, he was totally capable of beating Pantoja. Pantoja is really good but now has two fights in a row where he gassed early but still manages to take his opponents down 🤷🏻♂ He's gonna get in trouble when he runs into someone with better takedown defence and wrestling. I think Shavkat will become champion and I thought he fought smart by not striking with Wonderboy. Wonderboy still outclasses most people on the feet and Shavkats stand up styles matches poorly against Wonderboy so I think taking him down was the right thing to do. Was cool to see Jack Black come out with Wonderboy 😝 Josh Emmett's ko got me in trouble because I yelled HOLY SH*T really loud while Sarah was sleeping 😅 I didn;t get a chance to watch the undercard so will prbably watch that tonight. Good to see your channel is doing so well! 👏👏👏
@spicemma11 ай бұрын
Yeah Royval could have done a little more in the earlier rounds... his chin held up well it seemed. I was expecting Royval to be a more equal threat in the grappling.. He had length on Pantoja also.. will have to watch it back. True, Shavkat fought a smart game plan, I'm still not convinced though he's ready for a title fight next. Oh haha! thats quite a sleep in for Sarah, unless of course you watched the ppv later! I have rewatched that KO many times back : D Thank you Simon, I have earned a lot more respect for youtubers in general by doing this!

Tony Ferguson was never the same after he got entangled in that electrical cord whilst wearing sunglasses indoors. He got entangled and tripped and it shattered his knee in all directions. The sort of injury you can never move the same again. Prime Tony before that happened was amazing!

@@spicemma I think Shavkat gonna give him some problems. Leon is great everywhere and has top level TDD but Shavkat can hold his own in the striking, he won't freeze like past opponent. He has some nasty knees to the body attacks and spin kicks. Both of them are absolutely killer in the clinch but what Shavkat has over other Leon opponents is that Shavkat is gonna immediately go to a submission if he gets Leon down. Belal/Usman/Colby have no submission threat compared to Shavkat
@spicemma11 ай бұрын
True, I think he'll bring out more from Edwards. Shavs is great in the clinch and he does have that sub threat. I think Leon's wrestling defence is still underrated. Shavs has poor striking defence also, which will make him easier to pick apart. He is longer though, like Leon which could make it interesting. But right now, I think Belal has a better chance of beating LEon over Shavs. Shavs needs 1 more fight... but then again who against?
@kenzopeypers73811 ай бұрын
@@spicemma Do you think so? Belal was getting picked apart by Leon few years ago. Belal doesn't really have any threat on the feet either. Very flatfooted aswell. Shavkat got hit good against Geoff but people forget Geoff is 1 of the best pure boxers in the division and Shavkat still outstruck him. Leon is sharp there with counters and kicks but i don't know if he posesses the power to hold Shavkat off. Like Shavkat goes for the kill and if he cannot take Leon down he'll just walk through shots to get to Leon which is where Leon has his weakness, getting overwhelmed. I think Shavkat wins that belt. His only arguable weakness is his defense but that is something he could easily add, he has tremendous strikes on top when his opponent is down and he has great submission when standing up aswell. Guy is great everywhere and do not forget the man had a hard ankle injury in this fight. Maybe book him vs Usman?
@spicemma11 ай бұрын
I think Shavs beats Usman at Welter at this stage. Usman needs to stay at middle weight and see what he can do with a full camp. Yeah looking at the rankings, Shavs there's no one decent for him to face apart from the belt. Yes I agree Leon almost had Belal finished but I think Belal's will is his strongest asset. I think him vs Leon will look at like how Leon vs Colby was expected to look. If Belal makes it ugly, puts on the pace, for sure he has a solid chance. He's had a bit more experience than Shavs. Shavs has the potential of course and the natural talent more so. Thats why I think now is better timing for Belal. But LOL what do I know. If anything, Belal deserves the next bash. I just wanna see more out of Shav's game. There's still a few unknowns, but yeah lets see! He still has a bit of mystery.
