UFC 300 should have been in June or July. But for some stupid reason, UFC feels the need to do a numbered PPV every month. UFC 299 was in March. So UFC 300 HAS to be in April? 🤦‍♂ Just have UFC Fight Nights until then, and you'll have time to truly stack the card with big names like Jones, McGregor, etc., and build hype. UFC 100 and 200 were in July, so UFC 300 should have been as well.

The big issue is I don't think Dana planned it in advance as much as he should have. Otherwise, I really do think he could have got the big fight he tried to get, which I believe he tried 5 of them. Also, to be fair, it's not his fault that UFC 300 landed near Ramadan (which then left him completely out of options as he had tried reaching out to Mcgregor, Khabib, Strickland, Du Plessis, and Gane (But he is a pathetic dodger) They should have postponed UFC 300 so Ramadan would have been over so then they could have also got Islam, Khamzat and/or to a lesser extent Ankalaev, Mokaev, and Umar as well

This is supposed to be a monumental card but it doesn't have the monumental names. Jon Jones vs Pierra would've been a worthy main event imo. The BMF title makes it gimmicky. There have been UFC cards with 3 back to back REAL championship fights the people cared about. This is nowhere near what it was made it to be. Respectfully! Actually people are probably more interested in the Haney Garcia match scheduled a week later UFC 300.

I love the card but……. When you start by naming people like figueredo and the preachers daughter and Olivera and max and Justin, it’s hard to live up to all of those with any announcement of a main event. It’s just waaaaayyyy too stacked down below for anything to really blow your socks off as at the very top. It’s still an incredibly intriguing main event, but to top everything below it, you would’ve needed khabib or GSP or some magic unicorn to blow us away after all that.

The Muhammad Ali analogy is one of the rare bad analogies by chael but I know he doesn’t follow boxing as closely as MMA so I don’t blame him for thinking people couldn’t answer those questions but any real combat sports fan boxing/mma can tell you a couple and different places cause to this day they’re still the most iconic fighter of all time . Ali truly is the greatest look at his resume n when he fought them, has one of the most stacked resumes of all time!

I know people are upset about Dana promising the most insane main event ever. But, I’m curious to know what fights they tried to make and why they couldn’t make them. For example, he said Leon accepted 3 opponents. Who were they and why, what other main events did they try to make? I think knowing that softens the blow of the promise and is more interesting than just whinging about what we have, which is still a sick card!

UFC 300 is a card that is packed with solid fights but none of them are particularly mind blowing. Max vs. Justin is the best in my opinion, but it was billed as more than just a non-stop solid fights; Dana made it sound like it’d be Jones Vs. Aspinall and McGregor vs Chandler caliber.

Well, we were supposed to not be able to handle the main event. In fairness, it is a wonderful card, best put together to this day, but the expectations were built too high by Dana and the UFC. So it’s their fault, not ours, that we’re a bit disappointed by the main event. I didn’t hear a lot of complaints about the rest of the card though.

I am a fan of UFC, but there so many UFC events, that this honestly just feels like another event. I think Chael’s wrong too - the UFC don’t have a superstar at the moment, and it does impact on interest re: the Ali reference. There’s not even a major story behind the main event. That’s what really excites fans.

He's taking time to get himself to a point he can beat Islam before he strikes - its wise. The other side of that you have fighters that don't shut down their offense. Alex's ability to win any fight in the UFC is dictated by how his opponent strategize against him. Alex can't grapple/wrestle that good at all. Unless there is some behind the senses agreement of keeping fights standing, Alex will be dethroned soon. It's a matter of time .

300 ended up being much better than i expected. Honestly, i wasn't holding them to that high of a standard. With the way the divisions have played out and who had fought recently, i didnt think they'd have a whole lot going on. I'm pleasantly surprised. Definitely a fun card.

I think at the end of the day you can book this. MMA stuff however you want. The talent are the ones that are responsible to bring the show home. MMA fighters are at much greater responsibility than prowrestling talent who rehearse a prewritten match for days in advance. A MMA fighter has to deliver unscripted, unknown combat excitement in that live moment. That's profoundly much harder , and should be respected more.

It doesn't have that huge event feeling. Its just another ppv. Nothing wrong with that. But if they wanted to make it special they should have had some real grudge matches or something. I know you can't just pull fights out of a hat like that. A lot of stars need to align to make the big fights happen. It’s a decent event but this is nowhere near what any of us would expect for a super card. I don’t really think that’s to the fault of the UFC though… There are no superstars right now at the level of people like Conor, Rhonda, Bones, GSP, etc… Sean Strickland tried to be that guy recently but he lost the title immediately, so his cool Cinderella story went out the window.. and his whole alpha male character he’s doing lately doesn’t work that well for very long if you immediately lose the belt.

Its a good card. It wont sell well. Not as well as an event like this would be expected to sell I know me and my buddies are skipping 300. No "cant miss" fights. Gaethje Max is great and OLi/Arman is great, but stakes are who knows in both fights. Justin could lose his fight and get the next 155 shot, same with Max at 145. Just got hyped up too much and under delivered. Hype can be great but if if the hype falls short BEFORE event takes place it sucks out the one key word Chael always brings up; ANTICIPATION I dont see or hear much anticipation for this event.
