Dan, embrace the yin/yang dynamic of elite strikers vs messy brawlers. It shows a hole in strict martial arts, you get too used to what an opponent ‘should do’. If you follow any sort of discipline in your fighting - elite strikers have the skills and experience to understand how to set you in traps etc. whereas if youre a random messy ‘what the fuck is this’ brawler - all that pattern recognition and experience goes out the window. This is the beauty of Mixed Martial Arts - nothing is promised.

Do you not think that the "Dricus is awkward" analysis is a bit lazy now? It serves him well because no one is willing/able to analyse it - but I think analysts are being lazy by not trying to analyse him. It's so easy to just say it's "awkward". But you are correct in saying that he's no Michael Chandler - because Dricus has won his last 5 and Chandler has lost 4 of his last 5.

Nicksick has done a few interviews where he says he made Strickland rewatch the fight and Strickland came away with “he out dogged me” would love to see some evolution in Sean’s game.

Full transparency I just started watching this but going in these are my thoughts exactly. If Sean watched it and came away with like “I need to use my right hand” or “he threw in combination better than me” I’d fully be more confident but I don’t think he’s willing and or able to add much to his his game. Dricus on the other hand is awkward yes, but that man does nothing if not his homework and preparation. I think Dricus either wins dominantly or subs him in the later rounds. Now if Sean came in leading with his right hand like teammate Chris Curtis and kicking much much much MUCH MORE to the body off DDP- different story.

@@VeronicaHardyMMA no it doesn’t lol He said he had to be forced because he doesn’t watch ANY of his fights because he’s self conscious and will just see EVERYTHING he does as wrong regardless of how effective. You guys did a lot of discrediting Strickland style from what seems like a lack of understanding of WHY it works. Izzy and imavov are some of the most technical middleweights ever and he outclassed them comfortably. As Izzy said, it’s easy to sit back and watch and comment but when you’re in there with him it’s a different game. No amount of “no disrespect” before disrespecting someone makes it NOT disrespect. Especially when you discredit an entire weight class in an attempt to do so. No one is surprised 185 pound men can’t move like 125.

When Merab was backlogged from his title-shot during OMalley Vera 2, he earned the former Champion Henry Cejudo. 4 ranked wins within 12 months and a KO over Adesanya is much more work at 185 than Chimaev, so if its not a title shot for Imavov, he deserves no less than Whittaker.

You’ve never watched a Strickland if you think it’s even remotely possible he gasses out Dude throws more volume than anyone and comes out looking fresher. Even his grappling heavy fight with Uriah hall he looked like he can go 5 more. Sean’s issue with du plesis was he didn’t utilize his cardio advantage.

No there is not. I have watched the fight several times. I am talking about 5 to 10 times. You can play it in super slow motion, it was actually a punch that cut Strickland, after that they had a slight head clash. You could immediately see the blood opening up after the punch.
