GSP is great, but almost everyone becomes better and better with trainings, even Francis. So i don't think that's a legit argument as to being the GOAT. I believed all of the qualities that you mentioned applies to KHABIB as well. The difference is that nobody has been able to beat KHABIB and he has dominated all of his opponents until he retired. GSP had 9 consecutive title defences, Khabib had 3, so 3 times less. GSP was fighting in the UFC (so highest level) from his 6th fight, Khabib from his 17th fight. GSP combined opponents record when they fought him is 498-101-8 (so almost 4 wins for every 1 loss), Khabibs opponents 282-115-4 (more than 2 wins for every one loss), so GSP was facing much better opposition through his whole career. Khabib is great, but he didn't surpass GSP's achievements. Khabib almost never fought any good wrestlers, GSP beat many good wrestlers and brazilian jiu jitsu world champion, and he is by stats best wrestler in UFC history. And yeah, Khabib lost fight against Tibau, commentators, media and fans from around the world saw that (even from Russia), only judges saw something diffrent. And when it comes to Jones, even Khabibs father said he is the goat. Have a nice day ;)

Khabib may not have had as long of a career, but he's got my vote for GOAT. He didn't surprise anyone with clever strategy, he just beat them with a pure skill gap, just by being better. None of his wins are controversial or disputed, and nobody got remotely close to a knockout or submission. But most of all, he made it look easy, never got cut or bruised, he just smashed them, took the belt and left, real alpha move.

But sometimes I don’t understand the whole weight bully thing. Like ok you cut weight your opponent is the same weight. Maybe you would be stronger because you cutting so much weight but you belong in a weight class above but before Justin Dustin and Conor fought Khabib you could see it as just a good style matchup and both fighters strengths cancel eachother out. It is true he didn’t fight as many people, but 1) everyone knows that the LW division is super packed, and the most competitive in this era, and 2) GSP himself has said that fighters today have gotten so muuuch better than before (because they have built so much on what came before, and they are so much more holistic and technical about their approach). And Khabib *dominated* the most stacked division in the UFC. And we all know that if he came back he would go through all of the guys right now in that division, no problem.

what? GSP has only 2 more title defenses than Khabib? GSP has had 15 championship fights in his UFC career. He won the welterweight strap twice, the WW interim belt once, 2 division champ by winning the middleweight belt. He left on a 13 fight win streak which 12 of those were championship fights with 9 title defenses. During that time he also won like 33 straight rounds. He almost never even lost a round in all that time being the champ defending against the best who's who of the WW division. His only 2 losses were championship fights and he avenged both of those in dominating fashion. He didnt pick his opponents and he fought BJJ specialists, the top wrestlers and strikers and dominated them all at their own game. He was the most well rounded fighter of his time. Khabib is a great fighter but no where near GSP's level. Khabib has fought in the UFC 13 times and is 13-0 in UFC 29-0 in MMA but those first 16 fights were in Russia and Ukraine against garbage no name fighters. Cant compare his 13 ufc fight win streak to GSP's 13 fight win streak considering 12 of those were all championship fights and 1 where he went up a division and became 2 division champ. GSP beat a hall of famer and the most dominant welterweight at the time for the WW belt in Matt Hughes. Who did Khabib beat to get the belt? He never beat a champ for the belt he beat a journeymen Al Iaquinta who took the fight on short notice as the 5th or 6th backup for a VACATED belt that went to a decision. After that he defended the belt 3 times to Conor, Dustin and Gaethje. His only skillset was wrestling. He won all his fights by wrestling strikers. Although his striking did improve over his career it was still very bad. He is nowhere near as well-rounded or complete like GSP is. Khabib has never lost, he probably never lost a round,he never bled in the octagon was dominant in all his fights but he just wrestled. That was the only key for him winning. Khabib is one of the best he's the best lightweight of all time one of the all time greats but IMO to be considered the GOAT or on GSP's level he needed to accomplish a lot more before he retired. So back to the original point of my reply. So Khabib has only defended the belt 3 times and GSP has 9 title defenses. Unless my math is wrong or something that would be 6 more title defenses for GSP not the 2 or 3 you mentioned. Fact is GSP has had more championship fights in the UFC 15 than the total amount of fights Khabib has had in the UFC. I think it’s obviously a hard topic because of all the weight classes but I do think like GSP said the newer generation of fighters are better that’s why for me it’s Khabib, even though he didn’t defend his belt as much as others, his style was just unstoppable, he dominated his opponents physically and mentally inside that octagon and he didn’t even have to anything in there. To only lose two rounds in your UFC career is pretty amazing, no one came close to stopping him in my opinion, just going out as the best and never losing, Khabib hands down.

The fact that Khabib hasn't challenged himself as much as those two is why he can't be placed above them. GSP came back and avenged both losses dominantly and not to mention took years off and then came back to win a championship in another weight class. We don't even know if Khabib could come back and beat someone who he had previously lost to, especially in the fashion that GSP lost. The toughest challenge for a fighter is defeating someone who they've previously lost to. Not just because of the physical aspect of it such as having to overcome that person's skills or whatever it was that caused them to lose in the first place, but also the mental aspect of it; regaining their confidence and believing that they can succeed where they've already failed. It's the reason why losses are considered a vital part of a fighter's career. In most cases they either make or break a fighter. We haven't seen Khabib overcome that level of adversity. As a matter of fact, Khabib hasn't even fought anyone twice. GSP was also a longtime champion with one of the highest number of consecutive title defenses in UFC history. Demetrious Johnson belongs above Khabib as well.

I honestly agree with a lot of the fighters when it comes to Khabib being top of the top due to his sheer dominance. However one thing no one mentions though is the fact that he's also the one with fewest UFC fights out of all the "goat contenders" often with even 10+ fights down on them. A lot of stuff can happen in 10 fights which I think is being taken for granted. Jon Jones has 22 UFC fights GSP has 28 UFC fights DJ has 21 UFC fights Silva has 43 UFC fights Cormier has 23 UFC fights, Poirier has 28 fights, Fedor has 27 fights etc. Khabib is undefeated at 13-0 but on the same time there are multiple other goat contenders with equal or higher winstreaks. Silva has 16, Usman has 13, Jones has 13, GSP has 13, Holloway has 13, DJ has 13 and then of course Khabib on 13. I don't think there can be only one GOAT. In a sport like this it's impossible to really crown one goat. Similar to what Khabib himself said and I actually agree with: There's a level of GOATS and he's on it.

Never, he always want escape from striking, especially against high level strikers. He always looking for a takedown. Jones like striking and when the time is good sometimes takedown. He is very all around, Khabib is not. He know the wrestling very good, and he need 1 takedown and he keep the guy down all 5 minutes. Couse this is the only thing what he know. Perhabs Jones not so good on tue ground as Khabib, but he know the grappling very good, look his clinch work, his submissions, he is always smart in this position. And these are just the wrestling part. He is perhabs the most creative striker in UFC history. A lot of kicks. Axe kick and all this stuff diferent elbows from diferent positions, accuret punches. He is on the same good level on the feet as Khabib on the ground. The only reanson why Khabib is so dominant, couse he never fought somebody who really like wrestling, and not afraid of his takedowns. He not fought with Tony ferguson(when Tony was in his prime), he not fought a with Chandler, he not fought with Charles Olivera. He never fought with anybody who like wrestling very much. Justin Gaethji had wrestling backround, but in his last 10 fights, i never saw he really want wrestling with his opponents, he used his skills for escape from his opponents takedown attempts. And he did same sometimes against Khabib. He stopped him 2-3 times. But in that fight Khabib had 4-5 attempt, so of course if somebody especially somebodyike Khabib try take somebody down many times, before or after but he is gonna get it. And also a lot of fighters are not prepared against a high level dagestan wrestler. Khabib defeated his opponents in his world where they did not like be. Jones step in his opponents's world and defeated them there. I never saw Khabib whould like be stand up 15-20 minutes straight, or maybe few minutes wrestling. So of course everybody look so good and dominant where he is the best, but i never saw Khabib really entered in his opponents world and beat them there. This is why Jones is the best. Course he had close fights, but these fights were in his opponents world And by the way Jones fight in 2 generation. It's more difficult to him complete against nowadays fighters. What if GSP or Matt Huges go back and fight with Gracie? They gonan beat him pretty easily

Khabib's opponents moslty had LOSING RECORDS at point of the fight, you want to see what is ridiculous? 12-0 vs 0-2 and 16-0 v 0-0. His legacy is nothing compared to GSP who defeated 20 guys in the top 10 in 2 different era. Khabib only beat 4 or 5 people in the top 10.
