What Khabib is referring to is this......of course hockey is Canada's national sport, the best hockey players of all time are arguably Canadians (Wayne Gretzky, Gordi Howe, Bobby Orr, Sidney Crosby, etc.)...in 2010 we hosted the Olympic games on home soil in Vancouver Canada, and our golden boy of hockey Sydney Crosby, scored the game winning overtime goal (referred to as the Golden Goal) against the Americans to win the Gold Medal. An absolutely HUGE moment for our country. Sidney also led his team to win the Stanley Cup the year before....HOWEVER, GSP was such an amazing athlete and what he was doing on the world stage in MMA, actually earned him Canadian Athlete of the Year above Sidney Crosby......this accomplishment cannot be overstated, Khabib is very respectful and he completely understands this which I find quite fascinating about him. One of the greatest ever to complete in mma and most ruthless bashing ever given to opponents in the 155lb division and look at him talking about how great gsp was and how he and his father admired him. It's the humbleness and true honesty that people love in them.

I think you can really see Khabibs inspiration from GSP in both of their Ground and pound. The way they both drop bombs on the ground looks so similar.

Ruthless?? 😂🤣 khabib can't knock out anyone he just smothers them, khabib almost died cutting weight and has missed weight multiple times, he is an oversized wrestler in a division full of mainly strikers, this is not impressive

DC needs to take it easy and NOT try to patronize KHABIB's knowledge of sports. He may be having a much better insight than most of the Ufc commentators there but the English language is a clear detriment in expressing himself. KHABIB is not just an exceptional athelete but he is way smarter than the entire Ufc roster.

He wasn't just the first to have a well-rounded skill set. He made each component of that skill set magnify the other components. He used his striking to make his takedowns more effective and used his takedowns to make his striking more effective. That's why he could beat up superior strikers and take down superior wrestlers.

I was rock climbing at the Red River Gorge, and met some lovely French Canadians climbing similar grades. Saw them multiple times. The gentleman was in his 50s but really jacked/ripped for a guy at any age. I mentioned to his wife that his build reminded me of GSP and OMG did they light up! It was like I mentioned a national treasure, they both spent 15-20 minutes with me talking about GSP and how proud they were of me mentioning him with respect to this gentlemen, smiles as wide as their faces. He is definitely an icon to the people of Canada.
