Fond memories for me as it was the first episode I saw in colour, at a friend's house in the days when colour TV was still new in the UK. Great stuff.

Straker being bored out of his mind is absolutely hilarious.

Ideal HS Studio cover job? Random hovercraft guy from Timelash. Though I'm not certain he doesn't raise more curiosity than he assuages. David Tomblin must have had a thing for these sort of eclectic nerdy characters, as Regan's insect home movie-making cousin in "The Cat With Ten Lives" is another example. And if only they'd just watched his work-in-progress rather than digging out the Ouija board... One can imagine these were the sort of scenes that led to Abe Mandell nixing the second season for too much "tea in the Midlands", which to my mind is a sad reflection of how studios would gradually push everything they could towards action scene upon action scene even in adaptations of very nuanced and subtle literary classics (typed while having painful flashbacks to godawful barrel scenes in "The Hobbit").

Oh yes do not get me started on The Hobbit adaptation!

Trying to imagine Fish guy producer being replaced by someone from Antiques Roadshow Show. Same exuberance shown by road show guy, same bored expression by Ed. Road Show guy mentioning in an off hand way that a certain artifact that was found would not normally be discovered in the Red Sea….All we would need is some dying alien muttering” I would have got away with it if it wasn’t for meddling Antique Road Show Guy!! Loving the videos. Please keep it up!

That is an awesome idea! Poor Ed, though! 😂

Wouldn't Fish Guy be the Director, and Straker the Producer? Although being as it's Harlington-Straker Studios, I've alwasy assumed that Straker had a business partner we never see called Harlington, who dealt with most of the routine business of running the studio. Seems only logical. I agree that it would have been fun to have Fish Guy as a recurring character. Maybe have an episode where he's making a documentary about UFOs and comes to the conclusion that there's no such thing. Incidentally, you'd love the old Pathe news reels that were being made about the same time as UFO. They've got a website you can watch a lot of their old stuff on. And Fred Dibnah (if you haven't heard of him already) would have been more than a match for Fish Guy when it comes to enthusiasm for historical things.

I agree - he should have been listed as Film Director!
