My FAVORITE song from UFO, who is a GREAT band. The string arrangement melts me into a puddle and Michael Schenker's outro sets that puddle on fire!!!
@brucewozniak94732 жыл бұрын
Michael Schenker is my favorite guitarist of all time. Classically trained, can play beautiful melodic scales, then shred at 8 notes per second with no peers. Check the live version of Rock Bottom off strangers. His 7 minute solo is in my opinion the greatest ever.
@vicprovost25612 жыл бұрын
They have no clue how good Michael Schenker on guitar was, Metallica's favorite of all time and for good reason. They need to hear more from them, the live album would blow them away. More UFO! 🎸

I agree with others, the live album, Strangers in the Night Live is the definitive audio document from this legendary rock band. They had a nice following in the 70s & 80s in their heyday. Their best lineup including Michael Schenker and then his replacement, Paul Chapman, the albums those guys were on were absolute fire Try lights Out, This Kids or Rock Bottom, those are amazing hard rock songs and influenced all hard rock and metal afterwards. Enjoy, great band that needs to be heard. 🎵

Thank you so much for doing a reaction to UFO. They are so under rated. They wrote a lot of great songs and have been over looked for no good reason. They inspired all the great musicians of today. This album was my first exposure to the band back in 1979. It blew me away!!

Oh, this is an all time classic UFO tune! I hope you are reacting off the Strangers in the Night (live) album. Michael Schenker (guitar) is an absolute LEGEND. Hie bro was in Scorpions. GOTTA hit up Rock Bottom and Lights Out - all tracks should be heard off of Strangers album. Schenker is BALLS! Your mistake was not reacting to the live version - takes it to the next level. Incredible performances.

This is a UFO Ballad. It's a fantastic Ballad but whomever suggested should have specified. The reason in this case the Live " Strangers in The Night" is the go to for classic Michael Schenker era UFO is the same reason Kiss Alive 1 is the go to for early Kiss sane for Judas Priest " "Unleasehed in the East" & Thin Lizzy " Live and Dangerous". In all cases the studio recording just were not happening. In all cases the Live versions are all far superior.

Great reaction. Love UFO. Like the other have already said, Strangers in the Night live album is the place to start. Lots of great songs on that album.... Natural Thing, Shoot Shoot, Lights Out and Only You Can Rock Me are a few of my favorites from the Michael Schenker period of the band. I first heard UFO during the Paul Chapman era of the band, 1980-83, right after Schenker left. Love those albums too - not as flashy on the guitar work though, so they lost a lot of fans and never really recovered their popularity. Lonely Heart on the Wild the Willing and the Innocent album even features some saxophone.

Nice song. Unfortunately, UFO is not a band that I got around to getting into very much--not that there was anything wrong with them, I just got heavily into other bands so that there was not enough room in my small brain for other good ones. The album cover reminds me of one by Hawkwind, tho. So have a recommendation for you, do Hawkwind's "Quark, Strangeness and Charm".

Brit marathon would be cool. (Level 42 is British 80s). 😊 That synth bell sounding tone is throughout the song (reminded me of the Halloween movie theme). Then it throws you a curve ball... Sounds like a 70s prog rock song (Yes or Pink Floydish). At 9:35 they come in a little heavier for a bit. This is on the verge of playlist. I may have to listen a couple more time. Abrupt ending.... 😂

As a UFO fan since 1978, I promise the song structure grows on you. They have a few songs structured quite uniquely. My favorite band. Always awesome live.
@jackgilchrist5 ай бұрын
Didn't need it to grow on me, I loved it from the first time I heard it (probably around the same time you did). But I guess back then we were used to all kinds of different song structures, different time sigs, sometimes even speeding up or slowing down without a break or transition, different melodic phrasings, playing ahead of or behind the beat, etc.. Even bands which weren't considered progressive were doing a lot of non-standard stuff. These days it seems popular music is generally more formulaic. Not to mention more robotic, pitch corrected, click tracked, etc. Anyway, it's one of my all time favorite songs. And one of the few bands I've no problem if they do the live version first.

You can credit Phil Spector for creating the "Wall of Sound" and changing the long established 3:05 style and length of songs. He introduced a style of recording that made studio cuts sound more like live performances and so you get a lot of songs like this from the 70's. BTW, UFO rocked live! Saw them with Foreigner, later with Judas Priest, and even later across the pond.
