I remember watching this on TV in 1979. This TV special is what started me down the rabbit hole. I had to meet some of the people in this documentary and I did that. I met Wendelle Stevens and Stanton Friedman.

The best UFO documentary of the seventies, and one that shaped my views of the phenomenon when I was growing up in the eighties. Stanton Friedman and Ted Phillips are heroes in my view. Friedman proclaimed the obvious, in innumerable lectures, interviews, and books: that some UFOs are someone else's spacecraft or technology, presumably extraterrestrial. Phillips did a ton of investigative work on physical trace cases and close encounters, and interviewed many hundreds of witnesses. So many classic cases are presented in this documentary.

One of the better UFO movies of the 70s. I like that the movie follows a well thought out start to finish and doesn't bounce around with no clear start to finish like a lot of these 1970s. Documentaries did. The movie is wrong when it deals with the use of polygraphs. Polygraphs are not legal in any state in the country for criminal or civil litigation. There have never been any scientific peer reviewed studies claiming polygraphs have a 94 percent accuracy rate. That is propaganda put out by polygraph associations who sponsored and paid for the studies to get the results they wanted.
