Dang. This takes a robotic reproduction concept I have to a whole new level, because I've wondered what some material requirements were and this shows how effective wood (and rubber) can be in robotic (re)production...

3/5 I got one for Christmas, amazing kit but has some flaws. 1. The toothpicks are to big for the 2mm holes, I had to get a knife and make them smaller in diameter manually. 2. You didn't include enough elastic bands. Had to go buy some more. 3. The bands that you have included were to stretched out and didn't do their job. I have finished it, but it still doesn't work. This could be my fault however. I'm gonna sit down once in a while and find what's wrong. Maybe swap out all of the bands, or put some more candle wax on the gears. If I do make it work I'm gonna come back and edit this comment. If it's not edited; it still doesn't work.

I agree that the toothpicks were a pain, could not be inserted by hand, but with some small pliers to help, it works fine. I'm not done building mine yet, but I think I will have enough elastic bands: I just had to cut them to the right size and tie some knots. For instance, when building the robot legs, I could build three legs with a single band cut in three. Of the parts that i've completed so far, the double piston with the big cog was the most finnicky, i had to really cut the toothpick leftovers clean or they would block the cog. The rail-mounted elevator works perfectly smoothly.

Ugears ended. Ideological inspirers who founded the company left. That's what makes ugears now devoid of mechanical charm and quality of past works. Maybe that they will do something interesting and beautiful in the future. But honestly, I doubt it. The investors with blindly thirst for money will destroy this company.

If you wax the toothpicks they slide fine - it makes for a nice tight fit as well. My completed build also doesn't work - the gears are locked tight and the button you are supposed to push to release the power doesn't do squat. I've been in touch with uGears support, and even got info from their engineers - due to the maddening number of instructions that go with the build. According to uGears engineers - use the PDF version that is available on the website NOT the instruction booklet and inserts that came with the kit. It seems I'm not the only one to reach this spot - It would be nice if uGears supplied some sort of troubleshooting guide for these things but when communicating with them I very much got the impression it is a company in flux. Best of luck builders!

Если честно, не очень. Хочется иметь нечто компактное, но функциональное, вроде поезда или машинки. Я ваши поделки почти все скупил: места совсем нету, негде складывать. А это, по всей видимости, занимает очень много места.
