I remember seeing these books in the Boston Public Library a few years ago when I was looking for something new to read. I thought 'well, what's this?" and pulled one down to leaf through it. And that was it, man. Caught up in the whirlwind. When I finally finished The Crippled God I felt like I'd read something I'd never experienced before. Fantastic series.

This is the book that sent me back to read Gardens of the Moon again because I didn't know what the hell was happening but I thought it was something special. When I read the first three books for the second time they were 10x better than the first time I read them. And the characters are awesome!

Man, i just found your channel. Was watching a lot of "new generation YT fantasy content", if that is a thing? And i find that most if not all of the "young" fantasy youtubers focus on the same books constantly, your content has opened up a whole new world of fantasy books that i did not even know existed. Thanks a lot. I know it must take a lot of time and effort to provide quality content over years

I just finished this one recently, and it was so SO good. Im not sure which is my favorite thus far, but karsa is one of the best berserker characters ive ever read, really really love the series so far, and think once i finish the entire 25+ books it will be my favorite series ever

The last 4 minutes of this review had me dying laughing. There are no words for Malazan that can capture the scale and scope for someone who hasn't read it.

I’ve been hesitant to start HOC because it requires 100% of my attention, and would destroy my monthly TBR. I’m still recovering from MOI which I read last year.

I dont know. I tried Gardens of the Moon with big expectations and to my surprise, couldn't stand the style. It was like there were no modifiers in these sentences. This happened then this happened then this happened. Also the way he did names--- seemed too contrived at times to me. A city called Pale? [And that's the English word, not some foreign word spelled the same, obviously from his other names and titles]. Anyway I'll leave it all to you guys.

The book may have made more sense than your review, yet somehow I still enjoyed both

My favorite Malazan book. Complex, but a very well articulated book.

Brian, you gotta get back to doing Malazan reviews. I'm almost done with the main series, currently reading Dust of Dreams.

Bonehunters is probably my favorite book of the series with this close behind since it leads into that one.
