An absolutely wonderful version of "Ugly Beauty". Understatement full of subtlety and warmth. Gretchen is magic and so is Axel.

This is the only waltz written by Thelonious Monk. It starts with an eccentric piano intro that seems to respect him, but it's a beautiful song! "Still we dream and still we dream of love and still we dream oh how we dream" .....Good night and sweet dreams meu amor ✨...219/365

American, she’s from LA. But she studied ethnomusicology and has incorporated a lot of global sounds, values, and practices into her music

An introduction of over 2 minutes doesn't help a singer sell what she does quite well (when she is singing), Her concept is musically interesting but I would prefer to hear the singer after a short band introduction.

Pregunten Respuesta there are other songs for that though. Clearly this track is purposely done this way, plus it’s not all about the singer, it’s nice to give instrumentalists a moment or two to shine and I think it also helps set the mood for the upcoming vocal
