What you said about " an ugly old piece of wood" is also true about people: "you never know what's inside" Jesus pulls us from the firewood pile. The Holy Spirit, like a bowl gauge and other chisels shapes into vessels tp be filled with God's love, beautiful to behold. I notice you make a LOT of "hero cuts" sweeping from one end to another.

First. ThankYou Sir. For your service to our country. Second. What a beautiful piece. I love wood. My friends often ask me if I was a dog in my last life. - I pick up so many sticks to use as walking sticks and drift wood. - just remarkable the way nature gives her best -- and you help the process making it beautiful.

That turned out absolutely gorgeous. I love cedar. Bet your shop smelled heavenly. When you were cutting on the bandsaw, looked like you were cutting a slab of ham. Ha ha :-) I dearly love imperfections in wood, knotholes and all. Try to incorporate them into my design. Wood always has a story, we just need to listen to what it has to say. I take cedar shavings, put them in a small drawstring pouch and put them into drawers. God bless, enjoyed your video. 🙏

I had an old friend who passed on recently and he used to say, because he was a good and charitable person, "never write somebody off altogether." The same is true of most chunks of wood. They can always become something if we put in a bit of work. Thanks again, Rod. Terrific work.

Well said, my friend. I couldn't agree more. I don't tend to go deeper than 3/8" but more often I'll go 1/4". Just deep enough for the teeth or ridges on my chuck jaws to grab and hold securely.

Cedar and cracking seem to go hand in hand. Guessing the pressure you spoke of was a form of banding around it. Been there. I stear away from denatured alcohol with Cedar. It promotes cracking like no other. My Cedar bowls always draw more attention than the other common woods. It's a shame the color fades over time. But they still show the natural beauty of the wood. Yours will sell quickly I'm sure. Congrats on the gifts. They look good where you can see them often! Semper-Fi my friend.
