New year coming up, let’s try to lower that 22 a day number this year. If everyone reaches out to veterans they know and let them know they’re needed and wanted we can make a difference! Huah!

I can see the carbide tipped blades cutting the aluminum, but the lathe tools aren't carbide, but I see they worked. Did they need constant sharpening?

Say, Rod -- I really like the little round plate you used to finish the piece off. Where did you have them made? Is it metal? And how did you get the numerals to be different?
@RHumphrey28 күн бұрын
Thank you, Kathy! The metal tags were gifted to me by one of my subscribers a few years ago. She had an engraving business then, but no longer sadly.

@@RHumphrey Thanks, and darnit! I'll keep looking for something like this. What a nice subscriber!

Nice work! Any thoughts on the philosophy of using a floating base instead of solid blocks in regards to wood movement differing from the segments? Thx Jeff
@RHumphreyАй бұрын
Thank you! I'm not opposed to the floating base designs but I've never used them. I did my first segmented bowl with a solid base over a decade ago and it has held up perfectly. The biggest thing that matters, in my opinion (worth as little as anyone else's, lol) is to make sure the base wood is either from the same wood species or of a similar hardness and density as the segmented wood. A stable indoor environment certainly helps too. Thanks again!

Mines larger 26" chrome wheels was in excellent condition when i got it at a estate sale , took off the handle and converted it into a trailer many years of use loading brush and plant cutting caused it's demise - Plan replace all the wood and using a vinyl office mat chairs roll on carpet for sides & bottom should provide many years of garden service with the mat water protection
