The advantage of balsa version vs foamy is that it doesn’t keep changing trims every time you fly it. I think it’s normally lighter too.

Is this similar size and potential as the value hobby 38" easy stick arf...i never flew a balsa plane..thanks for sharing.

Black on the underside of gliders can make it easier to see at height. Over 1000ft for example. White on blue background especially or cloudy background seems to be almost invisible. So colour choices can depend on the type of model and how you normally fly it. I agree that black disappears in the tree line background on landing. I’ve used yellow on the leading edges to help see the model on landings.

Love sticks. Have a mini ultra and the 60 size. I have re covered the bottom of the wings in black and white checker board. Yours looks to fly well. Have fun 👍

Have you seen the 83" Stik @ Value Hobby? That thing must just be massive. I think I will recover this one at some point. It's an attractive scheme, but the black does no favors in the sky when it comes to shadows. Thanks for the comment, J

@@RCVideoReviews Have not seen it but the 60 size is larger enough and still runs on a single 6 cell.

I've looked at planes larger than 60" but then I think how much space they take in the back of the truck and I tend to walk away. I really do like the way the bigger planes fly though.

Hi , I've got this model almost ready to fly but was thinking of using flaperons would it work to slow it down on landing ? Great series of vids for this model , cheers.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
Of course flaperons will slow down any plane, that's just the nature of flaperons, but I don't think they're needed. This plane can land pretty slow the way it is. Thanks for the comment, this is a very fun sport airplane. I spend a lot of time shooting touch and go's with it. Have fun!

I love these planes, in the mid 80's learned to fly with one of these. Also my favorite are tail draggers and yes sometimes the want to tip over. For a long time now I started giving a small amount of up elevator as soon as the front wheels touched the runway, I works for me.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
It's possible the gear hardware is different from plane to plane. This one doesn't exhibit any tendency to tip. Were you flying off pavement or grass? I need to do some grass field work to see how it does. In any event, it's a really good plane, I love it.
@offroad55944 жыл бұрын
@@RCVideoReviews Both. On a fairly well cut grass field I use this technique as well. On Bi-Planes giving just a little up elevator right before touchdown also pulls the tail down. An elderly RC pilot taught me that.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
I have fun trying to drag the tail wheel down the runway without touching the mains. I have a video on the Vanquish where I did that. Rear wheel touched down first and the mains just coasted over the runway for a little while before settling. Any problems on grass?
@offroad55944 жыл бұрын
@@RCVideoReviews For me it depends on the cut of the grass. If it's short then no problems, just come in as slow as you can. With a nose wheel plane in grass touch down on main gear then down elevator to bring nose wheel down. I've done this for so long it's almost auto, and it makes for very pretty landings.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
@@offroad5594 One of the most awesome landing pictures I have is the BAe Hawk with full flaps. Done right, that one rides down from altitude slightly nose up with full flap deflection and a pretty bright landing light. It looks sick a few feet above the runway. I challenge myself to land mains first on nosewheel planes for every touchdown.

thanks for this helpful video ... any recommendations if I should get this one as my 2nd plane..... I am looking for an electric 3S size motor ...I have currently been learning to fly using a high wing 40 size nitro trainer.....thanks
@RCVideoReviews3 жыл бұрын
If you can get your primary plane up and down without creating spare parts, this would be a really good 2nd plane. There are three caveats: 1) Don't use the stock hinges. The material they provide isn't trustworthy. I've seen it on two different planes now--they do fail. 2) The use of black covering can be disorientating. Be aware. 3) It doesn't knife edge particularly well, so if that's something you want to learn how to do, you might be better off with a different option.

@@RCVideoReviews I have about a dozen 15min takeoff and landing flights now with the old school nitro and it's still in relatively good shape......I like the long flight times of nitro but it's really messy ..lol.... can I just place some strapping tape over one side of the hinges ( flexed position of course ) or what exactly do you recommend...thanks ....

My only complaints about the stik airframe are that axial rolls are harder than mid/low wing planes and it has been challenging to knife edge.

Just a little 4s2200. I get about 8m of flight time depending on how hard I hammer it. I can probably do about 10m worth of touch and go type flying.
