Worth the wait for both Penguins episodes. One question: do Yinzers get mad when someone refers to the color scheme as black and yellow rather than black and gold or does it not matter?

Yes! In fact, at my school, I have coworkers who keep referring to my Penguins rally towels and Terrible Towels as "too much yellow" and it drives me nuts. Yellow is lighter. Athletic gold is gold. Black and Gold.

It's clearly black and yellow to me. If they were to change the shade back to what they used to wear, then it would be gold. But they haven't.

George told the French that’s it it’s Fort Pitt. I wasn’t a fan of the 2008 winter Classic jersey, but it has grown on me over the years. My last time at the Civic Arena they wore those vs the Thrashers. The 1977 dark I would put third, but I agree with your number 2, and 1 although I like the dark better. I have a Crosby, and Malkin in the 02-07 look. The Vegas gold looks great. It has a metallic look to it, and the robo penguin looks good as a shoulder patch. My first time at the Civic arena was at seeing the penguins in those im January 2007 verses the Islanders. Also remember that in 1980 the penguins wore gold socks with the dark jersey. Making it look even more like the Bruins. I still don’t know how Pittsburgh has had the All Star game at the new arena. We have had the draft, and Frozen 4.

I kept it to the modern era or I could get into some really odd tangents. But I agree with your other points. Too bad the team was downright terrible when they played in those baby blue throwbacks, that's why they were dropped.

Hot Take, I'm not a fan of the blue. I understand the whole situation of why it happened then and the rules and regulations that made them have to do that but I would prefer the Penguins rarely if ever throwback to it. I can see Winter Classics or Anniversary or honoring people and teams but I just think it just doesn't look right to me otherwise. I do think those top two are good ones. I do wish the Penguins would bring that font back to the jerseys they wear now and also have the Robo Penguin as a shoulder patch on them I think that would round out the current look very well in my opinion.

Personally, I think blue/blue should be the team rule for every outdoor game. They wear it outdoors and otherwise leave it in the past

I still think the 2011 Winted Classic is the Penguins best jersey the number kit made it perfect. One thing I like from Pittsburgh from the Robo pen to Vegas Gold era with Glacier twill number was great. But I never liked Vegas looks

It's a great look, but I think the stripes are too thick. The original 67 ones were far better, and that takes it down a peg for me

Their changes are far more extreme each time than Pittsburgh's were. Even with the blue to black switch, the logo didn't change

They hopped on the trend, for sure. But there were a ton of blue/blue jerseys with roundels from Columbus to Florida at the time.

All three look great and Pittsburgh's city flag's colors are black and gold so screw the Bruins complaining about the Pens adopting black and gold.

They used the NHL's Pittsburgh Pirates, which used black and gold before the Bruins did. It's annoying that they didn't say anything about Vancouver going to black/gold/red before Pittsburgh did...

Hot take, but i dislike the light blue winter classic. It feels so simple and the logo is a circle and a triangle with text? Ew (my opinion tho)

There can be genius in simplicity. Not always, but when it's done right, and the balance here is truly done right, it WORKS. It's not like Detroit where all the detail is in the logo and the jerseys are super simple, it's a little more balanced between logo and jersey.
