Not everyone has the proper place to rear a happy dog. Dogs need a yard, to be walked regularly. I have mobility issues and a small apartment so I have a cat. But I love dogs and I so wish I could have one.

His looks are average and mediocrity is a terrible, terrible thing. Really ugly dogs get adopted because they are "unique". People smile and compare them to Ewoks, Chewbacca, Dobby the Elf or other such creatures. Elias is like a drawing next to a definition of a dog. He still needs love .

Breaks my heart 💔 every time I see and hear of it happening. So not fair!😡😞😢 We have let the domesticated animals we call "pets" down.😭 When will the human race wake up to the plight of all animals, all over the 🌎 world?! When will we "fix" it?! I hate the thought of living their whole lives in a shelter but, unfortunately at the moment in the USA 🇺🇸the only "cure" we have for overpopulation is "the needle in the back room".😞😢 We have let the animals down time and time again but, for the most part they return to being happy & loving to us. That's what they called my Rocky. A deformed big, black, & bully (the 3 B's of death for a dog brought to a shelter) pup brought in on a cruelty case. He was destined for euthanasia. The young daughter of the rescue wandered off and plucked him from the "kill pile" and asked: "Mommy can we take this one too?" How can you deny a young child's request to save a puppy? She took him knowing because he was Big Black & "Bully" his chances of adoption were slim. He also had major behavior issues causing him to just shut down. Not real popular with adopters. His twisted limbs were eventually put right. He was adopted to be a companion to my Autumn who left us 2 years ago (Mast Cell Cancer) 4/30/18. She loved him soooo much and I know she is eagerly awaiting his return. I can't imagine Rocky (Autumn too!) not having been in my life. Unfortunately he's almost ready to leave this world 🌎.😢 The abuses he suffered as a puppy have left him with horrendous arthritis. We will love him forever. And when he goes we will get another "ugly" 🐕 dog! 💖 🤘

I hope this video will help him to find a good home. I adopt the ordinary, unadoptables. The ones who come from nowhere with no story. The ones who lost their spirit and somehow have so much to give. They grow old in my home. They eventually pass, taking a piece of my heart, but leave my heart bigger than before. I have my legal limit, but I know that I am going to adopt another and another and another when the time comes. May the right person come along for this dog.

@Molly McCullagh aren't actually willing to help? How ignorant of you to say. I've donated to multiple rescues thus far. I have received thankful letters, gifts and products from these companies/rescues. Even with that- the fact that you specified 100 dollars as if every other person could just donate that out of nowhere. 😅 Due to my current financial situation- I cant donate to anyone, no matter how bad I want to. Frankly that is none of your damn business- I've been one horribly affected by this pandemic. You being a rescuer should understand thoughts and prayers is all one could offer at times and you should be accepting of that. PERIOD! YOU DONT KNOW my or the nexts persons situation! I take care of my dogs, my fosters and my child. My husband contributes so much as well and prior to this pandemic we lived extremely comfortably- however i couldnt just drop 100 bucks without considering my child and my dogs. PERIOD! Next time think before you speak something so small minded and ignorant . 🤦‍♀️ Now, open that head of yours. I have never heard a rescuer speak this way. How unprofessional of you. Good luck.

I read all these nice messages that go like "If someone could find him a home" and I feel guilty because that's what comes out from me, as well. I lost my beloved 11 year old street rescue great dane two days before last Chrismass. I was devastated. I could not cope with it at first. We would spend most of our time cuddling with our two other dogs that also felt rather awkward and crying and crying. Right after new year's eve, I started looking to adopt another one. So many to choose from. Wanted many but could only manage one. I decided to look for large, black dogs, the ones that rarely get adopted. It was easy to find one. He is with us since February 1st. He is about 3 years old and only lived in a shelter for half as much as Elias did. And he was lucky to be able to live in a large property, rather than a cage. He is a wonderful mix breed that only wants to be close to us and be petted. He constantly asks for it. Once we start petting him, he calms down. He needs love and affection. Even the best shelter can't offer a family environment. At least, the shelter can offer them protection and food. Is that enough? Prisoners get the same thing but I doubt they are happy about it. And dogs are prisoners without committing any crime, apart from being born.

It's like many people are watching this video without sound. What narrator said is that this dog is not ugly as in ugly, but ugly as in completely not interesting by today's social networking standards and he is like invisible to potential adopters. Smart way to get attention to him, if the title didn't say "ugly dog", this video wouldn't have reached so much attention. I pray this works out and he gets a forever home and a loving family. Thank you for bringing another story of another dog, that gets over looked for whatever reason. Elias deserves a home to be loved and cuddled, played with, walked, unconditional love just like all of the shelter dogs do. I'm angry because he was called ugly, he's anything but ugly, he's handsome in my opinion, but I see beauty in every animal. I hope this video helps people to understand, he has so much life to live and love to offer and he dosen't know which one to do first, so he tries to do all of them, when he's one on one with someone. It makes me angry when people call any animal ugly. Animals do the best they can with what they have and they don't know about their looks. They accept us no matter what we look like. Humans need to rise up to the animals level and be more accepting and see more than just the surface. I hope your video will help him find his home.

We have two adopted pups which were in shelter, each about a year. They each have their issues having been adopted and given up repeatedly but both lovely animals. Besides, we saved 2 from being in shelters the rest of their lives. I only wish I could take a few more Elias into our household.

I truly dont believe he is ugly he os a beautiful dog hes very energetic which is good. i live in an apartment so i cant adopt any pet at all but i wish that every dog finds a forever home.
