How to create depth maps in SPM (StereoPhoto Maker) using DMAG5/DMAG9b

When I run Create Depth Map, it opens up the GUI for dmag5 and asks to input images and disparities, seemingly disregarding the entire host program. any reason why this might happen? thanks!

You need to download the nogui archive. You must have downloaded the other one. Follow this tutorial by the SPM creator if you have difficulty (in particular, step 4): www.stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/makedm/index.html. Note that this is to get depth map from stereo pair. If you have a single image, I recommend Midas. See this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXuxgKGCmb5sgck where i compare spm dmag5/dmag9b and Midas V3.1.

hi, thank you for the video. even though I uploaded 2 stereo images and followed the steps you followed, it gives an output with effects instead of a depth map. no matter what I did, I couldn't fix it. can you help me ?

Hi... On Spm 6.16 When I select depth map from stereo pair .. Ask me to select Dmag folder??? I'm using Win 10 64bit...

Why is the depth map completely black when I create the new depth map?

Hi! The generated depth map is just plain black. Tried multiple settings, calibrated the back and foreground but every time its just plain black. Any idea how to solve this?

I have to ask this: Are you inputting a stereo pair, that is, a left and right images coming from a stereo camera like the Fuji W3?

I am still amazed by what Your Programs are able to achieve from either a Stereo Pair or from a 2d +sparse Depthmap. Is there a way You could look at the processed Images locally besides Facebook and Wiggle-maker? Would be cool if one could look at his Pictures without having an Internet Connection and have the 3d Effect using Mouse movement. Pretty mouch like in the Way Lytro Desktop integrated it would be absolutely great. Sadly I have not come across such Software besides some ancient Software that was supposed to be used with Industrial Lightfield Imagery that also required multiple Images and an attached Textfile with corresponding Coordinates for every Picture in the Virtual Image Plane.

Dear Johannes: I think you can do it in SPM. it's not as good as facebook 3d but it's not bad. Check Edit->Depth Map->2d (plus depth 3d) photo preview.

You mean, from a single image ? Yes, you can using MiDaS v2.1. Check this video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5CaeIWph5milas. All you need is a gmail/google account. It should give you a relatively good depth map (which may need to be edited a little).
