Really been enjoying your playthrough, sad to see you struggling so much with this one. Hope you don't get discouraged too much! A few general tips that may help with this mission and most missions in general: - You're gonna want way more eco. In this mission, but basically also in all missions I've seen you play, lack of eco has been the main thing hurting you. Having upwards of 50 villagers is not overkill, and will help you build up, upgrade and rebuild your army a lot more quickly. - As for trade caravans: they are a great source of infinite gold, but the route needs to be long for it to be efficient. Where you placed your market in relation to your town center in this mission, you were probably only getting like 2-3 gold per round trip. If you had placed it in the south corner, where the gold mine is, they will earn a LOT more. Yes, it also takes longer to make the trip then of course, but the gold/sec is still much and much better. - Following on the previous points, once you have enough resource income, build bigger armies. You may even want multiple of the same military building, to produce army faster. You can actually autoqueue units, so that they keep producing units indefinitely, which eases some of the micromanaging (but I think this is an option that needs to be turned on in the settings). - It can help, especially early game, to focus on just a few unit types (like 2 or 3) and their upgrades. This way you don't have to buy all the upgrades for every unit, and can still have a really strong army, and more quickly too. Of course, always pay attention to the units the enemy is using, so that the units you're focussing on are counters to your enemy. Once you're in a comfortable position, you can add to other unit types, to expand the countering options against your enemy, switch from defensive to offensive operations or upgrade to stronger units in general. - Don't only pay attention to which unit counters which when building your army, but also in battle: give different units different orders, so that they are fighting the enemies that they are strong against. I've seen you send quite a few myth units, camels and elephants to their deaths by sending them against priests and infantry respectively, causing you to loose battles where you may have actually had the stronger army. Some more minor tips: - Walls can be really efficient to buy you time to react. However, you seem to sometimes be limiting yourself by placing them quite close to your base, limiting your building space. Also, you make really long walls, which is expenisve and makes for long borders that you need to protect. Search for chokepoints to wall off, to limit wall costs and give you fewer places that need protection. - When your buildings are under attack, don't queue upgrades from those buildings. You seem to be doing this quite often, especially with tower upgrades. If the building gets destroyed, you have to start the upgrade again and if I remember correctly, you also don't get the resources back. In many cases, you have a safer building available to queue the upgrade from. - You seem to be overrelying on myth units a bit, especially in missions like this where the enemy uses a lot of hero units (the priests). But also in general: myth units cost favor, which is slow to get and thus slows down the speed at which you can build up and rebuild your army, when you rely on them too much (and competes with being able to re-use god powers).

Seconded on building shorter walls as choke points. Even building two or three "layers" of walls with a tower or two in between to harass the enemy as it slowly has to chew through the defenses can save you. Obv if you go this route you want to invest early in your walls and towers to beef them up.

You can separate out your units into quick select tabs so you dont have to keep manually selecting them to move. I usually did heroes, mythical units + seige, infantry, and ranged. And would move them all independently. This will let infantry, ranged, and heroes move faster. Your mythic and seige units slow down everything else if they are all grouped together.

I struggled with this one for a good while too. It is a real brick wall in the middle of the campaign.. Glad to see I was not the only one :p Keep on fighting!!

Maybe this is an older video but I wanted to say you should make your priests heal your other units while in battle, it would probably be more efficient this way. Been really enjoying your gameplay, keep it coming!

get you a farmer or horse back soldier to run around the whole map to reveal it and get you a better idea of the directions of attack. enjoying your playthrough. the more you play the better you'll get. keep it up dude.

pre nerf this mission was the nastiest of the campaign not surprised it took you a couple of tries

You really need to start doing your main task. I believe that this mission is structured in such a way that the opponent is far too strong to defeat. The goal is for you to cut down this big tree as quickly as possible while defending your villagers.

I would recommend that you first destroy all the temples with your army where the mummies come from, then go to the village center, then spam villagers running for gold, working fields and collecting wood. Build a small army to liberate the area near the tree. Then get 10 or more villagers to start cutting down the tree and a few to build walls around it. And keep building your army to defend the villagers who cut down the tree.

@@alfwinch24 I actually did do exact that (in a scrapped video), I went and tried to cut the tree down fast, but that did not work. I don’t want to spoil what worked to much (you will have to see in the next video) but it was NOT cutting down the tree quickly 🙂

I couldn't remember how this mission went exactly when he first started it. I thought maybe it was one where it teaches to "Zerg rush" with limited resources. Just get some elephants out quick, send a scout to path, and just keep sending small armies to chip away while turtling your main camp.

@@sakiskiosses1590 Hey now, you should be bit more encouraging or generally nice if you want more people to play RTS games and get into the genre more often so you have more channels and people to watch. After all, you represent the community of RTS games. Some channels will drop the genre completely and move on to other things. Just food for thought, have a good rest of your weekend 😃

@@sakiskiosses1590 No need to say sorry. I don’t play RTS games on my channel, I’m not the best out there, there are incredible channels to watch, but I am interested in the genre. This is the first RTS game I’ve played on my channel, it’s been fun. However, the comments I get are 50/50, 50 really helpful people and 50 really not so helpful people. It gives me a gauge at what the RTS AoM or AoE community is like and if I want to continue in the future with it. Will the community be welcoming? Or will I just get ridicule daily? 🤔
