U-Haul I owe you an edit. The comment below is true but I was able to contact cooperate and they were quite shocked to hear what happened. My installation was redone at a different facility, the cost was refunded 100% and the employee was going to be retrained, or encouraged to seek new employment. I have always used U-Haul, and was quite pleased that you took the matter as seriously as I did. You have earned yourself another chance. I paid close to $500 to have my Hitch and Harness installed. What I received back was a car with a wire hanging underneath it darn near scraping the road. When I called and asked about the installation and compared it to this video they said "Corporate has tools we do not, if you expect that level of installation you can take your car to Arizona or, find a U-Haul with better installation procedures. No stores follow the corporate installation instructions."

Hi Mark! I'm sorry you had to deal with that. What U-Haul center is this and what was your contract #? We will get in touch and get this straightened out.

Yeah dude that is crazy they need to fire the entire management of the store you are mentioning. Corrupt culture U-Haul is a national cornerstone

@@kismetcorp I suppose I should give U-Haul some credit. I did contact cooperate regarding the incident and not only was my installation refunded 100% and re-done correctly at a different facility but from what I understand the employee in question was at the very least "re-trained" or likely fired. This was frustrating to take this route but hey, at least they did something! I would give them another chance, just not that same location 😅

@@markalvarez1827 that's awesome to hear. I don't have a stake in their company at all but have had good success with them in the few times we used the service and trucks. Glad they made right with you

If a shop will install it for $500 it is well worth the money!! The devil himself installed the wiring on the 2003 jeep grand Cherokee!! It has seven or eight damn wires per side!!

Amazing. Was in such a bind and this video literally saved my life. My light tester wasn't working and I couldnt get out to get a new one so I just put a heavy object on the break and turned on the left blinker and clipped wires and made note of which lights turned off. That's how I figured out which wires were what. Hope that helps some of you who are also in that same dilemma

I appreciate the video & you did amazing job explain and show step by step . The only thing I wish you did show the first connections colors since I have the exact car ! But I don’t have the lighting tester thingy you have . Thx again
@aaronlimon48034 жыл бұрын
Sorry we did not show the colors since this is a universal install and the colors are not the same on all vehicles.

This is very petty for a 99.9% wonderful video. When you had to lengthen the right direction signal wire, would it not have been better to first drop the wire down the access rather than attaching first then trying to fish up? Ya never know what might be up there. Great great video that will save me about $250.00!

Thanks for your help when I got to the right blinker I got lost because my lights are setup different and I didn’t have the tool to test my lights but after about 30 mins of research I found out my white with dark green wire is my right blinker took me 6 hrs to do this job 🤷🏿♀️ but I saved money and got it down I spent half the time going to Lowe’s twice once for the 3/32 drill bit and the 2nd time for green 16 gauge wire my kit didn’t come with extra wire … I hope comment helps someone my car is a 2014 dodge journey

I recently had a tow hitch installed at a uhaul facility. All seemed to be done properly except my wiring isn't getting any power and they didn't do anything about it so i still had to pay and go and get my trailer that I was scheduled to tow. What should I do?

What do you do when the brake and turn signal run on same wire ? Hook both to same car wire ?
@aaronlimon48034 жыл бұрын
If the brake and turn signals share the same wire, you hook up the turn signal wires (yellow and green) to the vehicle and ground the red brake wire.

At the risk of asking a dumb question, why the need to run a wire to the battery ? Can't you just splice into the tail light wires ?
@lucperon96004 жыл бұрын
Did you ever get the answer for this?
@nicholaslowe53044 жыл бұрын
I don't know, but I'm assuming it's because maybe the power wire is only designed to provide power for the installed lights... that can be my only guess
@nicholaslowe53044 жыл бұрын
also, you may already know this, but power wires typically run at higher voltage, maybe that has something to do with it? ..
@lucperon96004 жыл бұрын
@@nicholaslowe5304 I installed a generic kit last week and I never ran a wire to the battery, I think the power wire running to the battery would be for if the trailer itself has an electronic braking system. My little utility trailer works totally fine without running a wire to the battery.
@aaronlimon48034 жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons. On LED tail lights there isn't enough power to light up a trailer and a vehicles lights so the box needs to be powered to give it extra juice. Also vehicles have more complex systems than trailers and the converter box converts the functions into separate wires and it needs to be powered to work.

Trial and error or look up a wire diagram of your vehicle

The fact they make specific wiring for specific vehicles makes this monstrosity obsolete. Why would anyone rewire something when they make plug and play.

Not every vehicle has a quick connect plug and will need a hardwire kit!
