I liked using tear blast arrows on flying machines. Also depending on whether the bird shoots fire or ice you can use the opposite arrow on them. Like if they shoot ice use a fire arrow.

Wasting a lot of resources topping up after a handful of shots. Crafting is always in batches, even if you don't need a full batch the resources used are still the same. Hunter bow crafts 12 arrows at a time so when you craft when you're 5 from your carry limit, you basically throw away 7 arrows, without reducing the crafting cost. (Sharpshot crafts in batches of 6)

Overriding is not just for riding on stuff. It also turns a machine into an ally that'll fight for you. Try it on a watcher some time.
