The original Parf Guide System continues to be a great success. The Mark 2 version is now being released and it addresses many of the comments provided by the users of the original. Both systems are being sold side by side.
In this video I demonstrate how to create offset holes at either 32 mm or 48 mm spacing using the Mark 2 system.
Look out for other videos in the series:

Another outstanding video peter thankyou . I used this system to make a 600mm step square for my Radial arm saw and its the first time i made one with such certainty that its square . I am in the throw of putting my MFT together and playing around with clamps and seeing what clamps will go through thicker material than 18mm .. interesting the microjig clamps will go through a 30mm top and breeze through a 25mm ,, of course the festool one will only just do 20mm . maybe interesting exercise to pop up a matrix people can contribute too as to what claps will fit through the holes V various thicknesses of top ... all the best from NZ and thanks for a fantastic product idea ..

Peter, Is there a way to add offset holes using the Mark II system to an existing MFT3 table that already has the 20mm holes cut?
@NewBritWorkshop

Peter, do you ever drill Super Dog offset holes on the long side of a table ? I can see that being a way to do rip cuts along the long axis of a rectangular table.
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 4 жыл бұрын
I Have done them once but I found that I did not use them. If, say, I have to do a cut down the length of a board, perhaps dividing an 8x4 into two 2x8s, I first create a good sawn edge taking just a couple of mm off. Then I carefully measure from that edge in two places, each near each an end, and use that to set the guide rail. Subsequent cuts would be done with the dogs to break the pieces down further. Peter

Hello Peter. What is the minimum distanse you would recommend from the Edge of an mdf sheet to the first Hole? Also how would you deterine the distanse from the Edge to the first Hole?
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Henrik, I would not have the centre of a 20 mm hole any closer than 25 mm from an edge. When you do your planning look at the width and length of your piece of MDF. See how many times 96 mm will fit in. For example if it is 12 times the the distance from the centres of the extreme holes is 1152 mm. If your sheet is 1220 mm wide the that leave 68 mm. For symetry, divide this by 2 and so the distance from the edge to the centre of the hole nearest the edge is 34 mm. Peter

Hi Peter, The drill guide system has two holes for re drilling the 20mm holes what is the second one for and do you need to put any lube onto the bushing when drilling.
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Initially you would use the 3 mm pins to locate the 20 mm drill guide but when you progress to a certain stage you will need to use the 25 mm locator dogs to secure the 20 mm drill guide. They fit into 20 mm holes that you have already drilled. For this stage the 20 mm drill is moved to the other part of the guide. Oil is only needed about once in every 100 holes and then only a dash. Hi Peter, brilliant as always - I think a "Parf Super Short Dog" with a 3 mm hole in the middle where the top is flush with the table would be a good idea in order to make the offset holes in an existing MFT3 table......or is there another way? (happy owner of PGS Mark 1 btw)

Yes, but not an option I suppose if you want to add extra holes (as he says) to an existing MFT top - eg to add offset holes for the guide rail. Presumably in that case you can use the 20mm guide block to position a couple of holes halfway between existing ones? Nice update by the way - time to jump on the bandwagon I feel. Mmm - Christmas ideas!! Geoff.

Peter, I really like your system and in fact I have purchased the Mark 1 parf guide system some time ago. Allthough the Mark 2 definitely has added value, I am hesitant to upgrade :-). However, creating offset holes that prevent sawing marks from being on the holes and colliding with larger parf dogs does sound attractive. I have found a way to do this using the mark 1 set, with the remark that the holes will be perfectly perpendicular, but not at 32mm and 48 mm offsets. I hope this can also help other people. However, I do not see a way to post pictures. Do you have an idea how I can share with the community?

Hi Peter. You briefly mentioned that you can use the Parf sticks to create a 48mm spacing. It seems like you should also be able to do 16mm spacing. Is that right?
@NewBritWorkshop
@NewBritWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Technically yes as there are offset holes for 48 mm and 32 mm and the difference is 16 mm. However, having 20 mm holes at 16 mm centres would not work at all as the holes would overlap. If the 16 mm offset holes are in unique rows (or columns) then it can be made to work. Good luck. Peter

This gives astonishing accuracy, right? As a new guy sniffing out the system, I need to learn what freedom a holey bench can give. Within narrow confines, they seem to fill the need for a table saw, drill press and router table but there must be more. Is it a fair assessment to say the system allows fast production of geometrically perfect pieces? Seems at first glance like a factory in a broom closet.
