I was making these " ultimate bits " 34 years ago - I developed a longer bit principally for cnc machines but they were quickly adopted by kitchen fitters for worktop jigs - good to see a British manufacturer back on the scene - too many have gone thanks to cheap imports and government indifference.

@fraserhardmetal7143 Ye there's still a few good UK companies about and newly developed ones mate.

@michaelwillson6847 Hi Michael honestly a small trim router is great for roundovers and chamfers etc anything else a decent Plunge router is better, safer and more powerful.

@michaelwillson6847 oh and I highly recommend Trend routers as you probably noticed I aways use Trend. I've never used Rutlands so can't comment really.

@@karlpopewoodcraftyea a saw you was mostly using trend. My Only problem with the trend one is the cost. Granted not the most expensive ave seen but not the cheapest. I need start with a basic trim first but I'll get there. If you fancy a router 101 video wouldn't say no to it 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

They are too expensive imo, we have got by for decades using bits a fraction of the price. There is no need to change, no gap in the market, just an excuse to throw more money away on a bit that looks fancy. For every kitchen install there is more than enough scope to add a brand new set of affordable router cutters. You can buy x5 Trend cutters for £39.95.

Great review Karl. I’m slowly moving away from the cheap accessories that I first bought like router / drill bits, so reviews like this are really helpful. Cheers 👍.
