As a Dutch person and used to people on a bicycle (most Dutch ride a bicycle), I can not get used to how drivers do against people on a bicycle in your country. I am not a bicycle fanatic or even drive one (and I have several cars) but leave the people alone. More patience and courtesy in traffic would be nice. And your infrastructure should be build by 21st century standards. I see so many things in such vids that can be bettered. Then I see four car lanes in one street going the same way. Here it would be rebuild like sidewalk, bike lane with hard borders, car lane, car lane, bike lane with hard borders, sidewalk. Or the one roundabout where drivers go from the left only lane on to the roundabout. It can be solved really easy. And the whole how to drive mentality is not so good/nice.

The hazard perception here was pathetic from so many people here. Defensive driving is really a thing guys :)

With #12 I don't think points and a fine would suffice at all. Swerving a van towards a cyclist, pedestrian or even another vehicle should result in an immediate lifetime ban from driving. But for some strange reason, the courts are VERY soft on these types of drivers.
@ianmason.17 күн бұрын
I suspect it's more likely the police's fault (traffic offences don't normally go via the CPS). They probably charged this as careless driving when it ought to be charged as dangerous driving (a deliberate move that the driver should have known was dangerous). The court can't 'upgrade' the offence, they have to proceed with the offence charged and follow the sentencing guidelines for that offence if they find the defendant guilty.

@rustydusty299216 күн бұрын
@falconvelocity Not strictly correct but for sure would not have been good here to indicate, drifting out or staying out when safe to do so for obstructions such as parked vehicles reduces indicating yes but you should indicate if waiting for oncoming vehicles as this then shows following vehicles you are actually waiting. This is also the safer method incase they cannot see the vehicle in front of you thats parked and/or the opposing vehicles.

#2 red car brakes where it should have accelerated or maintained speed to pass the caravan. The caravan is expected to give way to the red car. Another example of “Christian” driving causing issues. Just follow the rules of the HWC there is no situation where any of these drivers come out positively except to say that there wasn’t a collision. The caravan has no idea what to do. The red car is not following the HWC and the silver car just makes things more difficult for the caravan. This was caused by the red car braking and causing confusion and uncertainty.
@FlyingPhysicist17 күн бұрын
red car did what it needed to do in order to avoid a collision. irrespective of any specific HWC rule, this is the entire spirit in which the HWC is written ("no right of way" etc.). if the red car had continued or accelerated as you'd suggested, then they'd have been driving or accelerating into danger, which is about the worst decision that could've been taken.
