Such a WONDERFUL day! I fully expected this to have happened within days or weeks of the Cass Review being released to the public, but when that didn't happen and the weeks then months ticked by, I was starting to worry that it would all be fobbed off until a return of a Conservative government. The so called ban actually only places a simple condition on puberty blocker use - which is enrolment in a so called clinical trial . That so called trial is a default option for children enrolled in the new expanded clinic system that replaced GIDS - meaning that there is effectively no restriction on that new clinic system using these interventions , even on the youngest children.

@rodkipping it's about time for a genuine ban , which unfortunately this isn't . This only requires that all children having these interventions be enrolled in a ( supposed ) clinical trial . And the new clinic system that replaced GIDS offers enrolment in such a " trial " as a default for all children they receive as gender identity or dysphoria related referrals. This fake ban mostly just acts to calm public outrage , and to launder the continued and expanded use of these interventions by the network of clinics that are intended to continue and expand the work of GIDS . Please keep questioning , and keep fighting. Don't accept false reassurances.

All this phoney " ban " does is require all the children often being given these interventions to be enrolled in a mass trial ( which the Cass report wants all children in the new system to have as a default option ). There's an American reality show "I am Jazz" about a boy who has been through all of this and gone through surgery as well. He's honest that he cannot experience orgasm, or even sexual arousal. He expressed dismay that boys aren't attracted to him and now seems deeply depressed. His parents should be ashamed of themselves and we can only grieve for that poor mutilated boy. I wonder if he'd have grown up as a happy gay man. Bloody tragic.

From the moment the interim Cass review was published this was inevitable. But it's also politically necessary. Giving PBs to children can lead to lifelong medical treatments, hugely expensive surgery and possible negligence claims. But the NHS is in a hole that Streeting and Labour need to get it out of. Its funds need to go to services for actual illnesses, not to funding artificial "identities".

Unfortunately this s so called ban is a sham, and a false reassurance designed to quell public concern, while allowing continuing experimentation on children. The so called ban actually only put a condition on use , which is enrolling the children into a trial - and the new network of clinics will do that by default ( as actually outlined in the Class report ). This is a trick, a slight of hand , to launder continued use of these interventions by the expanded clinic system that replaces GIDS. If you doubt me, listen to this clip again, and hear the " clinical trials " exemption , and look up references to the same in the Cass report. The real battle is yet to be won. And propaganda suggesting the war is won risks everyone leaving the battle early. Please question everything , and read and listen closely.

Is this a ban in private health care too? Originally it was only the NHS and were still going to be given to boys. It was also only a ban on under 16 year olds. I hope this really is a complete ban. My concern is that they said "outside of clinical trials". Clinical trials on children for a made up mental illness is still very wrong.
