Greetings mi Bredren Francis, my heart goes out to this single mom and the plight she faces due to her daughter's actions. I am hearing culture clash and lack of understanding and education about how western societies and the laws work. When I immigrated to the USA, the state I made home had Jamaican Organizations that provided pamphlets, classes and individuals that went over the differences between Jamaica and the USA. The church back then also played a pivotal role in assisting new immigrants and unmeasurable is the genuine help from other Caribbean immigrants. I think some of the above ideas might help in curbing this culture clash and the alienation and resentment it too often brings to our peoples.

African parents subject their children to so much violence growing up. Any small thing and there's a slap coming your way. These adults lack communication skills that are needed in Western culture. Granted, those parents themselves were raised the same, but the instinctive need to react with violence will not work in UK. We need to do better as a people and as a community,

Anger is a theme in a lot of these stories. The anger always leads to the actions which gets people in trouble. Far better to be cool and calculating. She should have just pretended that all was well, and she was happy. She can then arrange a quick "holiday" back to the home country and left that ungrateful Jezebel back there.

Sad! Many of the African children coming abroad become worse off than African children born in the diaspora. There’s been countless stories like this one. Sometimes parents feel regret why bringing children abroad and not wait until they get their first degrees in Africa. Only God knows what is becoming of these children.

Hi Francis thanks for what you do . Francis please is there an African Community Association in the UK. I believe that some thing can be done to mitigate most of the problems that can grouped under cultural shock. I am very sorry for the Lady. I would be giving you a call at some stage. Issue like that was handled within a collaborative understanding between the community members and the mainstream system. Some one has to liaise between the community and the government . For them to relinquish tough control and measures that would in effect negate the welfare and maintain a healthy family unit. The way the police easily African separate families in the UK is not the best. They need to give allowance to cultural differences that makes it hard for especially parents and children to be fully integrated thus helping them to understand the system. It could be any one in any foreign country. African Lawyers should start looking into that, please.

African parents should pay attention to our children, while we have come here to work, we should pay attention about what our children are experiencing and socialising with. We cannot rely on our relatives back home to teach us how to parent children in UK/ abroad.🤷🏿‍♀️

People should find out more about where they want move to . The life there , the rules there and what is obtainable there etc. People bring their wife to europe as soon the woman learn that women have more power than men in europe some marriages ends . Same thing with children and their parents moving to Europe . They said every advantage comes with disadvantage so you to have weigh the disadvantage and make your plan or you will regret it big time.

If they send her back she has to go. No choice. I don't know why so many Africans are in so much trouble among the black population. Just hard believe. One cannot bring your kids to another country at such an old age. The daughter at 17 to leave her country is very difficult. But parents have to take this into account. This family left England with 3 children.dren, a 15 year old and 2 younger ones. When the 15 year old turned 16, she got a plane ticket back to england and the parents did not even know. I was happy for this young girl, because in kdnya all she was doing was riding on motorcycles without a helmet.

The problem stems from lack of a father figure in upbringing of a child whether dead or alive. It is always advisable not to bring certain children to western country given the brainwashing they encountered once they set foot in a different countries like Europe. Same goes for people bringing wife or husband to Europe or wherever with deadly consequences afterwards. We should be reminded of our cultural differences when dealing with certain things albeit in good faith

Sometimes, when you fight your kids, you push them away more. It may be hard, but she should have advised her, then gave her the option to choose what she wanted to do and then learn from her mistake....after all, she is an adult now. She should have been patient and waited for the girl to come back once the boy had depleted her money. She will then be wiser next time. This way she still can maintain contact with her daughter and the daughter would feel free to ask for more advice from the mother. You have to make them feel they can come to you for advice, otherwise you will lose them.

First of all the mother was also wrong, she should have controlled her emotions, and not put her hand on her daughter. For her to push her so hard that she drew blood is wrong.
