Never shot ducks at night, how do you see them?, silhouette against the half light? The shots looked close or magnified?

Hi thanks for your comment, after a few years of shooting them you get to know your quarry. The sound of the wing beats also as you say the silhouettes. Your eyes adjust on the night you shoot I always try and get in position where the sun is setting so you have that last bit of light to Id the birds better . Also it’s better on a cloudy night . I’d say if you haven’t shot on an evening flight or morning because birds will still come in the half light of the morning. Stand with someone who has experience in that kind of shooting so they can say if it’s the correct quarry to shoot . Also a big must when doing this kind of shooting with friends or guests. Set out some rules the main one should be no low shooting. You can get carried away when those teal start zipping in . 👍

Hi Andy , if there cleaning the feed up then I feed every day Normally. I normally put 2 buckets in a day mallard are greedy the more you put in the more they eat 3 days before we shoot I’ll feed more as a confidence thing . I normally shoot 5s now on a flight pond but if I’m on the foreshore I go to 4s for ducks and 2s for geese . 👍

Thanks for your comment, I do try to help people as much as I can . I’ve been asked to do a video on how to setup and feed ponds and drains so there could be a video coming on that subject or I might at a section in a video . Robin was definitely on form that night ..👍
