Decoying pinks & greylag on a frosty morning over silo socks

In this video I'm joined by Jez for a morning decoying geese on winter wheat where they've been causing damage by grazing and paddling the wheat down after the recent volume of rain we've had.
Both Jez & myself are using our Beretta A400 hundred shot guns .with homeloads.
Shooting over 45 silo socks and 3 white silo socks that I use as swans .
It's -3 on the morning with not a breath of wind , the geese come high but soon tuck their wings in and drop lower in over the decoys.
My dog Will out with us and he makes some nice retrieves.

What a corker mate really enjoyed this one.Reminded me of my favourite book Hunters Fen by the late great John Humphries .It was lovely to see the enjoyment of your dog working he loved it.Those Geese are a mouthful for any dog.Stay safe looking forward to next one.Tony

Hey Tony thanks for your comment , Hunters Fen is a great book , I have a few fowling books but that is in my Top 5 along with the kenzie wild goose man . The dog is doing ok not the best . I didn’t have him from a pup or train him . He came to me via friend when he came he had a lot of bad habits one was eating the quarry he was retrieving. Along with a few more bad habits . However he’s getting there with a lot of hard work put into him . Still a way to go yet with him .👍

Thanks Keith, he’s getting better.. I didn’t train him , so he’s not really up to how I would have liked him , he was given to me. However there is a big improvement since I’ve had him and a bit more work has been put into him .👍

Thank you Alan , decoy pattern is dependent on weather, location and how the birds have been coming to the field . A big part of the decoy pattern is recognisance over a few days watching them feed . I am planning on doing a couple of workshop videos with Kevin Wilcox from Tidepool decoy & calls on Duck & geese Decoy patterns also setting up a and putting out a Motherline .
