I waited half an hour to see this train at Retford yesterday. I gave up when it was 25 minutes late as I had things to do. Having no smart phone I was unable to find out what was happening so concluded that 60103 must have failed and that when the special did turn up it would be behind a diesel. I should have had a little bit more patience!

Yes Simon. It would have been worth waiting. She was pretty well on time at the first location but was held in Claypole loop for over 40 minutes. I've heard there were trespasses on the line. At the second location, she was about 45 minutes late. Andy

Great video The wind was awful I had to tie my tripod to a post at Gamston. I think the delay maybe due to a couple standing wrong side of gate at the foot crossing 4 ECML services reduced to snail pace. The couple did not move to correct side of gate until Network rail official and BT police arrived after that everything went back to normal. Can't get my breath

The train was officially limited to 60mph and I think the driver was pretty well sticking to that. I have another video of A4 Union of South Africa whose driver was pushing his limit a little beyond what he should have done though. 60103 was pathed for 75 mph max and that speed was reached. I was onboard and can confirm this.

ive always prefered steam and traction engines, ,myself.there's a few places that do steam train trips in Ripley,,Loughborough /Leicester line,,blue bell line,,ruddington etc,,in UK..at least beaching didn't do away with them all..thank GOD..il always prefer steam..🚂

I agree. We're extremely lucky in the UK that we have so many locos and lines saved. It was all down to the hard work and dedication of so many volunteers - particularly in the 60's and 70's. Andy
