I think it shows the state of the show at the time that the contenders are frequently introduced as not making the cut for Series 6, or failing parts of the Eliminators that were no challenge to earlier season contenders. And that goes back to Series 6 as well where contenders struggled to do the rope climb time after time.

Tonight Challenge are showing S7E3 and S7E7 - for some reason missing out S7E5 and S7E6, just as they missed the S6 Celebrity Special. Poor form - I hope they make up for it next week by showing E5 and E6...
@davidadams52147 жыл бұрын
Hello Matthew, I have to agree that the broadcasting channel has not been at its best regarding this issue, however, the above episode (S7E4) and S7E5 was shown on Sunday 26th November and S7E6 was broadcast on the Sunday before that when it should have been S7E3. I hope that helps my friend.

Got it. Cheers. I have recorded these all from when they started showing them from Series 1. As far as I can tell the only episode they *haven't* shown is the Willie Carson celebrity special. (Unless they've also missed an Ashes series..?) When I have a couple of weeks to spare I'm going to go through and watch them all in one go. As a family, we completely missed Series 1, and started watching from the start of Series 2. It was a tradition in our house. Watching some of the inconsistencies in Series 1 on TV for the first time, like Shadow being clearly beaten at least twice in Duel, was an eye-opener. Watching them all over again has been fun. I forgot how nice a guy Ace was. To go from bodybuilding to Christian outreach work is a very unique "jump". Thanks for the clarification - I have nothing to worry about then! :D

Hi Matthew, I'm glad that I was able to help. In my initial reply, I didn't feel it necessary to make reference to the Willie Carson celebrity special as you have correctly identified that as the only episode that Challenge has yet to broadcast; otherwise all other episodes including the Ashes specials have been shown on the channel. This is due to certain licensing rights to TV episodes that Challenge has so far been unable to secure; in fact, I notice in the 'Discussion' page that O'Shea had already spoken about this issue, as well as reminding me that the first Springbok Challenge series that was filmed in the United Kingdom will also not be shown. Here is the link to the Discussion page: kzbin.infodiscussion?disable_polymer=1

I have to tell you that the first series of Gladiators had also completely passed me by as well! I believe I that I began watching the show either between 1993 or 1994, and I have not looked back since! Gladiators will always remain as one of my personal favourite TV shows of all time - truly wonderful memories of Saturday Night television growing up! I sincerely wish Warren Furman all the best in his current and future ventures. I believe that in the TV show, he initially auditioned as a contender... well I guess the producers certainly had an 'Ace' up their sleeve when he was drafted in as a Gladiator ;-) (first time that I have done a self-made smiley face with a wink!) By the way, I was particularly struck from what you said in regard to Shadow being "clearly beaten" on two occasions in Duel from the first series. I have just taken a look at the Duel segments that Shadow appears in and I can see him still on his platform but only able to pull a draw against the same contender and eventual series winner, Weininger Irwin in Heat One and then in the Grand Final.

Was Helena the only second person to fail to complete the eliminator due to injury?
@Tubewings6 жыл бұрын
Well, there were three contenders in Series 2 (Gary Dodds, Roland Hill, Pauline Oliver) that failed to make it up the Travelator. In Series 5, Adrean Parrock injured his hamstring on the balance beam and failed to complete. In Series 6, Debbie Sharp and Ronnie Williams were injured in Heat 2 and Quarter 3, respectively. Plus, Jackie Tindall epically failed in the first Springbok Challenge heat.
@therebel43325 жыл бұрын
Pretty awful on everything until she basically sparked herself out on the trepeze lol expected better from her tbh.
@davidfearis73355 жыл бұрын
I guess Helena's upper body strength was zapped on the Rope Climb & possibly on the Final High Hurdle and so she didn't have the strength for the Hand Ladder & the Trapeze. Helena becomes the third contender of 4 who failed on the Trapeze. Fails on the Trapeze 1:- Shramee Smitt (SPRINGBOK HEAT 1), 2:- Alan Forshaw (SERIES 7 HEAT 1), 3:- Helena Redwood (TONIGHT who also Injured herself), 4:- Kate Evers (SERIES 7 HEAT 5) Possibly Janet Alan in SERIES 8 HEAT 1 who didn't grab the second Trapeze and did a Swingback.

When she struggled to even get over the 2nd high beam right at the beginning it wasn't looking promising. Being the heavier contender generally they need to have a lead going into the eliminator to have a chance, she was on for a hiding to nothing there, her opponent was very consistent and professional.
