Why are we paying to buy what we have already here. Why should we buy fuel from other countries, pay for it to be transported here, when we have enough fuel of our own. It is time to call out the hypocrites who say we can buy fuel from other countries but not use our own. These people are completely against out country's security. I wonder who pays them. It was something to do with unions demanding ever increasing wages, holding the country to ransom with constant strikes and making it far cheaper and more reliable to have the coal imported from elsewhere. I'm sure more than just the unions are to blaim but when you look at their actions in retrospect it seems obvious this is why they all closed down.

Our Coal is also of good quality so instead of using worse quality coal from abroad where you have to burn more for the same calorific output and added nasties as less pure. Plus they never add in the climate impact of shipping all this across oceans. Like that is a free way to transport things.

Great stuff let's hope it goes ahead. We need to push towards energy independence. The economics are straight forward, it's all about supply and demand. The demand has outstripped supply recently and hence higher prices. Not just at the petrol pumps because more expensive energy means higher prices across everything. So let's all of us push against this climate activism and madness and secure our future.

green energy my arse. I was a National Coal Board apprentice and the Colliery employed 1100 men . In later years i watched massive coal ships being off loaded at Immingham docks near Grimsby .We need the jobs and the prosperity for the future of this country. it is being strangled by do gooders like that woman. the new modern design looks very impressive also. clean and unobtrusive ,as well as providing the coking coal for steel production .

Boris Johnson claiming that Margaret Thatcher did good closing down coal mines and how this has improved our climate. Had we kept our mines open, we would have had the best coal in the world and we might have been exporting the black gold. Alas it was not to be, very shortsighted by the then government. Now we’re being made to be more dependent on electricity. Heaven help us if we have a total blackout in a deep mid-winter with nothing to burn.

One big problem, who is going to teach these new generation of miners, most of the miners would be old age pensioners, or nearing , who's experience would be vital in the running and safety; Possibly we could have coal, coke and town gas once again and hopefully become self sufficient and with new ways in producing. Mark out 2,380 black dots on a sheet of paper, then mark a single red dot. Those black dots are air molecules. The red dot is CO2 at the current level of 420 ppm. You can now see that gently vibrating that molecule of CO2 offers no discernable warming effect. The climate has warmed in the last 50 years as it's warmed before in the past, but it isn't due to CO2.
