An opportunity too good to miss presented itself and the chance was seized. A good friend had pointed out a working from the Mid-Norfolk Railway (a heritage line) to Booth's of Rotherham, a well known railway dismantler which had become notorious in the 1960's for scrapping dozens of steam locomotives.
The Mid-Norfolk Railway has been earning a valuable few extra pounds by storing unwanted railway stock for the major train operating companies and amongst these were the Greater Anglia Mk.III coaches involved in the action today.
Access to Booth's Yard requires reversal across a road level crossing, a movement requiring a walker to ensure the road was clear and safe.
Holmes Junction in Rotherham offers three options - the main line, Booth's Yard and the link to Rotherham Central station. These few minutes at Holmes, happily, provided all three options in use a first for me.
