UK Interview to be Married!? | NOTICE OF MARRIAGE | Weird UK Laws!

Well!...I guess were getting married!!! Follow us on our journey to tying the knot in the UK! We are planning a legal marriage in The UK and a large ceremony in Cyprus 2019!...This is the start to something amazing and we would love you to come along wierd laws though!

We are still very unsure of how to do things. Can someone please give us a simple 1, 2, 3, sort of breakdown. We have booked our wedding venue for the 21st Aug 2021. So many people telling us different things and the council website does not make sense to us. Want to scream.

At the moment registration laws as regards marriages date from 1837 so estates were passed from fathers. It is possible to list your step father on your marriage certificate provided he was at some point married to your natural mother. The only way you can list you mum is if is a sole adoptive parent (the laws are different for civil partnership schedules for same sex couples where you can list both parents and this be shortly rolled out for everyone) The reason you are interviewed separately is in case a party needs to say they are being forced into a marriage or in case of a sham marriage. The bank statement is to prove the 7night residency in the district however if you owned your home you could have written a letter as the homeowner saying he has resided with you in the district for each night but most registration offices prefer bank statements or utility bills.

Is there a way to by pass this? Me and my fiances we're so focused on the intimate catholic focused counseling we aren't given advise and we were both new to this and originally not from the UK. Our wedding s in the next 5 days can we by pass this without having to postpone everything?😭😭😭

If you are not registered you won't be officially married in the eyes of the law. I think you can register after religious ceremonies though...We just did it the other way around.💛

Redwan Shafi most place need an appointment; it’s generally £35 each and done at your local register office unless either of you is subject to immigration control then you need to attend a designated register office and possibly supply photos and your notice can be sent to home office (depends on your immigration status)

you have to book for giving notice but you need documents when you go to the appointment its strict but I had my marriage at the registry office I know it hard
