I laughed when I saw the junk drawer. Yep, everyone has the old nut sand bolts. Not how I would layout a van but it's functional and works for you. Have you never considered a PTO compressor rather than a 240v one? You can take off trucks tyres with them if you wanted, they kicked out some air
@kerbsidemobilemechanic9 ай бұрын
😂😂it’s saved my on numerous occasions! Yeah I have changed the van around a couple of times and found this works fairly well, I have considered a PTO but cost etc outweighed everything else….plus, I have a new van now, video coming soon

@@kerbsidemobilemechanic My set up is in the bed of an 2015 f150. But I don't carry as much as you do tho all my customers buy there own parts. My customers just pay me to install the parts. I have a 5 drawer tool box and a bunch of egg crates for all the other stuff I try to keep it simple and of course a 3 ton jack and specialty tool and things like that

Love this video….you don’t realise just how much tools you might need when you get to a job!!! I done my own small repairs to my car….and before I start I work out what I might need so I don’t get halfway through a job and find I need something I’ve not got!!! So over the years I’ve built up my tool box…but watching this it’s nowhere near everything there is! lol

Looks Good to me 👍 as long as you know where everything is that's the key. Like your attitude to recycling 👍 do you get money bsck on the old brake pads. One suggestion though, i would store the torque wrench more appropriately being a calibrated tool. 👍 I would also hide your reg plate in future.

Everything has its place…sort of 😂 when I recycle the brakes I get a small amount back but it’s really not a lot but just good to dispose of them properly. Noted on the other 2 points, thanks 👍

Good video! I too am a mobile mechanic although I tend to do mainly small repairs and maintenance for traders - easy pretend mechanic stuff! 😂 Interesting to see other van layouts as I’m currently going into a bigger van myself. Mine won’t be half as kitted out as yours, as I’m nervous of the van being broken into, so diagnostics and expensive tools get removed mostly at night. I also like to carry motorbikes in the back of my van time to time so need it to be empty in the middle. Thanks for showing us your van! Oh by the way, I too have a GAT dpf gun the same as yours, but mine seems to leak out of the little hole where it screws onto the bottle - does yours? Could it be because my compressor is 10bar, and maybe i need to turn the pressure down to the gun? Thanks
@kerbsidemobilemechanic11 ай бұрын
Thank you, easy stuff is where the money is I guess 😂 Just get a good alarm and son Good locks, won’t stop thiefs of they really want to get in but a good deterrent. The GAT gun did leak when I first used it but then I put some ptfe tape around the threads And do it yo super tight and doesn’t leak now 👍
@ttatimbo583011 ай бұрын
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic ah nice one about the GAT gun - I will do that 👍🏼 I think deadlocks are next on the newer van - I have the hand plates on. Just hope it never gets broken into

I’ve got an Autel 906BT (I believe) which is a very capable machine in my opinion, there’s obviously a couple machines more expensive and can do more but I’ve very rarely needed anything more for roadside stuff 👍

What do you do with old oil from customers car, do you have somewhere to store in the van. Also what was that yellow Stanley big unit in the back what’s that for. Thanks lastly what MPG do you get with all that weight
@kerbsidemobilemechanic8 ай бұрын
So I store waste oil in 20 litre oil drums and then when I’ve got a good few filled up I take them to a friends garage to dispose of it and give him £20 or so. The yellow Stanley unit is a air compressor, it’s ok but is so so loud and always trips the fuse for the inverter which is annoying so don’t use it that often, MPG wise I think around 29mpg 👍

@@kerbsidemobilemechanic it looked like you have to climb in the van when you are working on a car just to get a tool. And just how much work do you do on a car when you are mobile. I would only do light jobs if I were mobile. You should be able to get to all of your tools without getting into the van.

@@1BlubeTubeah I see what you mean, I can lean in and get some bits but overall isn’t really an issue. And yes I try not to take too much heavy work on or work that can’t be completed in a day, but I also have a unit where I can take that stuff on if I choose.
