Thankyou Sam. There are some minor issues with focus when I try using the cinematic mode on my iPhone, more noticeable on a larger screen. It’s all part of the learning process. Onwards and upwards 😊

Hi Jason, just catching up on some of your earlier posts, and it's no wonder why you like shohin so much. Beautiful video. And why is it that I think you guys all hang out all the time, surprised me that you had only just met some of them.
@TheBonsaiGarden6 ай бұрын
Thank you Mary. We all have busy lives and other commitments away from KZbin so meeting up can prove tricky to find a time that suits. As for connections within the UK KZbin bonsai community, I chat regularly with a number of people, and consider myself good friends with Xavier and Alex Braunton - they live about a two hour drive away from me. We have met up several times at the Doncaster show, and chat daily on social media and messaging. I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with Tony of Tony’s Bonsai and chatted often by email before he sadly passed away. And I had Adam of Notion Bonsai as a house guest for a couple of days last year and we chat on various chat apps frequently. He’s in Northern Island so we have the Irish Sea separating us. We Scott of Let’s Do Bonsai is a member of one of the clubs I am a member of - though my attendance has not been good recently.

This was a very special show coverage, great haul of trees and pots. Nice to see Scott Winnard , I met him 2019 at the Kitchener Waterloo show in Canada. Did Morten Albek come to this show ? Sent Funky Fish an email to see if they ship to Canada. At about 5:26 mark you showed a cascading conifer. I love that pot. Any idea who the potter was Jason. Well done watched it twice Thanks again.

Thanks Jonathan. If Morten was there then I didn’t spot him. I believe he attends the big shows further south / on the outskirts of London, but maybe not this one. There were no details on the displays (that I noticed) so I don’t know who the potters or owners/stylers of the trees were for any of the trees.

A really great video covering the show and all of the really important people you met...and of course me too! i was with you when you bought that Larch and I was also with you when you cracked those pots. Does that make me good or bad luck??? Thank you for the kind words and If i hadn't been so blown away by this event i may actually have had time to look at the display trees in more detail. Great photography Jason and there were definitely some bargains to be found. 😁

I reckon in the luck stakes you break even. I’m the one who breaks the pots - fortunately only one £8 pot and a couple of very thin freebie pinch pots. Ironically they were the ones wrapped against breaks. I also felt that I only had time to fully appreciate the display trees as I was editing, after the event. It was all a bit overwhelming. Great to meet you guys. 👍 Incidentally did you buy that silver birch that was fatter than my arm from Ryan?

Really great video Jason well put together, really enjoyed it since I never got time to look at the display trees. It was really nice to meet you even if it was just for a brief moment, Donna does some really great pots 😀👍👊

Thanks for the compliment Ryan. We will have a proper natter next time, if I can get a word in past Xavier 😂😂😂 That dragon pot is incredible. I just couldn’t walk away from it and had to buy. Just beautiful. I just need a beautiful little tree to put in it 😊

It was a shame I couldn't make it Jason, but it looks like you picked up a couple of really nice trees there. I really like that trident next to that rock, and the trident will grow and thicken up pretty fast to help with the proportions. Alex sent me a photo of his beech, and he picked up a beauty too!

I was a shame you couldn't make it Tony - it would have been great to have the opportunity to meet up in person. Even for someone a bit more on the reserved side like myself I found it really enjoyable and was there for about three hours, wandering around the stalls, chatting with Xavier and Alex, and several other people - all really friendly, and checking out the display area. The beech Alex picked up looked great, and I saw Xavier bhaggling over a silver birch with a trunk thicker than my arm... :o)

Fantastic share. Thank you. I couldn't make this specific show after enjoying the earlier one this year in Doncaster. Great to see so many lovely trees and of course, I recognised a few traders! Enjoy your tree and pots!

You are most welcome Kenneth. I came last year but with the other half sat in the car I had to rush in and out. I know more people now and was able to go round at leisure and had a great time. I won’t be making any of the shows around London this year but will definitely be back here in the New Year. 👍
