UK on high alert for an invasion of Asian hornets this summer

The UK is on high alert for an invasion of Asian hornets and experts have warned what to do if you spot one.
It comes as nature groups warn of a potential surge in the damaging invasive non-native species.
The UK's chief plant health officer Nicola Spence has called for beekeepers and the wider public to be increasingly vigilant to the presence of the hornet after record sightings in the country last year.
Asian hornets pose no greater risk to human health than native hornets but threaten honey bees and insect pollinators.
The Environment Department (Defra) said the species is not established in the UK yet but early trapping is fundamental to eradication efforts.

Bloody hell, even the hornets are migrating here, this is beyond a joke. British bees will be kicked out of their hives, they'll be eating rotting fruit, then get blind drunk on the pavements. Even insects are being culturally enriched.

Except the opening shot was of a different species. What we look for is essentially a large wasp, with a dark body and an orange stripe across the thorax. It's often found hovering near beehives, waiting to pick off returning worker beesa.
