There is a video out there of Ashley playing at the Opry for the first time singing "Girl Going Nowhere" where she almost doesn't get through the song. It's fantastic.

Ashley is coming to the UK next year, will be checking her out live then. She's one of the first artists in country i heard that pulled me into the world of the more story telling side of the genre. From there i started listening to tyler etc. She is getting into main stream now but she is certainly the type of artist we need out in the mainstream converting more people! Great reaction and commentary as always mate - Ian

Prized things like a guitar, or a family home, or a special car are more than just item. People put so much love and good energy into these things ever time they are repaired, or caressed and played. I like to believe that these prized things have a memory for this energy and love, it stick with them. This guitar is so much more than strings and wood because it still contains the vibrations and energy of her father. When I play a well loved instrument, I think I feel that energy. It’s released as it’s played, it changes the sound, the feel, the essence. My mom just died and I feel it holding her prized art brushes. Or maybe I’m just turning hippy as I grow old.

Ashleys father is still alive he has been fighting illness for sometime she has said before she didn't plan on releasing this song when she did so it does use past tense . there is another verse they had to cut out on the album that she will sing live sometimes its ....he taught his little girl how to be a man to help her neighbor anytime she can and keep a song in her heart now and then .....her albums are amazing and her shows her and her band live there is nothing better

She is my kind of old school country, which gets no radio play these days. I have no idea why pop masquerading as country is all that gets on the air right now; well that and country rap, which sucks in two genres.

It’s funny, when I was in high school in the 90’s we said the same thing. Garth and Brooks and Dunn and such were pop country, and we wished it could go back to real country music. Now country has gotten so much more pop, that 90’s country is now the good old days of real country.

Another modern female country gem. I would say you need to complete the week with both or either Margo Price - weekender and Holly Williams - Waiting on June. The latter is based on a real story of the life of her grandparents (not the Hank side).

Sweet song, but Ashley darling, you a grown-ass woman who has good skill and heart. You could have asked old dad to play that 6 string when you got grown, and he would have most likely treasured that experience. Getting approval and acknowledgement from your people is priceless. But, I'm guessing he gave you that already. Too bad most of us, like me, always carry the kid around when interacting with parents. They grow as well as us. The dog is a hunting dog. Nice pick and reaction 94.
